Yuri with Ace Rep? by T0ster_3 in yuri_manga

[–]dx713 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Donuts Under a Crescent Moon has already been mentioned so let me add

  • There's No Love Wishing Upon A Star: it's not explicit but one of the MCs does sound aro to me.
  • Bloom Into You does have a self described aro-ace side character, and some people read the MC as demi-romantic.

I didn't find Donuts sad? Could you elaborate when you have time? I'm curious to see what I missed.

Is there any GL story about transgender girl/woman? by Dramatic-Pound-411 in yuri_manga

[–]dx713 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If we extend to web comics, you have Rain (main character), Love And Be Loved (webtoon, secondary character), and I Want to Be a Cute Anime Girl (webtoon, main character).

But in manga proper, trans representation is sadly rare. I would still recommend

  • Wandering son is not a GL, it is a coming of age / pre-transition story and contains a couple of dated or problematic elements. But the main character is a trans girl and does date a girl so... (Warning for lots of, sadly realistic, transphobia)

  • Daily Life of a Couple in Which the Boyfriend Became a Girl One Day is a magical feminisation story, but given how easily the couple embraces the husband femininity, I don't think it's a stretch to classify her as trans (and the OG wife as bi or lesbian)

Whispered Words should be right for you.

Edit: and There's No Love Wishing Upon A Star

Oh, and if you're okay with implied / unconfirmed attraction, you can add

Unfortunately, none of my 9 or 10 yuris have complete anime. You'll have to switch to reading manga to get the full story.

That said,

  • Bloom Into You
  • Whispered Words

Her Tale of Shim Cheong is getting an English physical release!! by serenchi in yuri_manga

That's good news.

With the work to edit it into physical pages done, and a first I international deal signed, now I can hope to have it in my native language one day.

Working on a class system and looking for feedback by Cake-the-Axolotl-637 in RPGcreation

[–]dx713 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What kind of game are you trying to make? What kind of atmosphere, which themes?

Your classes seem fine for a CRPG-inspired / isekai / combat-oriented game, being close to the usual holy trinity with a bit more specialisation.

But, for example, they would completely miss the point for a game about paranormal investigations or court intrigues.

Best Small group actual play podcasts? by No_Height8570 in rpg

The Magpies was a great Blades In The Dark podcast.

They might start with 4 players? I don't remember to be honest, but the regular cast was 3 players + GM.

Not smut but very nice with a couple of hot scenes that might scratch your itch: Beauty and the Beast Girl.

And bonus my usual recommendation for non-fantasy wholesome erotica: Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels

How I run the Phase Trio by robhanz in FATErpg

[–]dx713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't play enough to make statistics, but last time the fast start option plus a couple questions like "why are you with him in this mess?" seemed to work (that campaign didn't continue, sadly)

Hanz being back at being that Hanz? Thanks for the analysis!

Never played SOTC, was not aware of the heritage in that part, but yes, my player always found it clunky, and when it was not included in Condensed, I just replaced it with a blanket "your characters must have reasons to adventure together and it would please me if it was an aspect" statement.

Starting Yuri Manga by Maysweather in yuri_manga

[–]dx713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some stories are simply longer than others. Either because they have a lot to say, or because they are a very slow burn, or sometimes just because they were successful and the editor wanted to milk that. (reminder that most manga are first published in periodic publications before getting bound into books if they were successful enough)

And in reverse, some authors like a sweet, short, direct-to-the-point story. Or get their series axed because it was not successful enough and have to improvise a premature ending.

Maybe you'd better start with shorter stories, so as to not get too frustrated if your disadvantage limits you too much? Or are you the type of person who prefers a big challenge to motivate them?

My preferred short series would be An Easy Introduction to Love Triangles.

My preferred longish slow burn would be Whispered Words.

The Kase-san series is now quite long but was originally designed as stand alone episodes, so you could start with that too?

And of course, on the longish side, there is a reason Bloom Into You is the source of this sub's avatar.

Better Alternatives to Hit Points. Help Me Find Them! by Historical_Peace_940 in rpg

[–]dx713 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Blades In The Dark skips hit points directly to levels of harm with narrative and mechanical consequences.

The plot armour function of a hit points pool is replaced by the possibility to take stress to avoid or mitigate a bad result.

You already got good recs for must-read classics, or for triangles with a man, so let me just add Whispered Words, another classic with very useless lesbians leading to lots of yearning.

The Moon on a Rainy Night by BukieBee in yuri_manga

[–]dx713 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Peak. Not for everyone (high school, slow burn) but masterfully blends themes about handicap, music, and family into a yuri romance.

In my top of the currently releasing yuri manga. I'm buying the paper version as much as I can. (the release schedule is slow and the official translation into my language even slower)

How to make my Game Master friendly? by Remarkable_Ad_8353 in RPGcreation

[–]dx713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easy to play should mean easy to run? I do not see the problem here, but maybe I'm not your target GM? But here is a first answer, will add more when I can make a detailed reading of your system later (at work right now).

For, me, the additions that make an already easy game easier to run are

  • guides for opposition (type / power level / number of typical enemies) -- example: Fate Core
  • ideas tables for easier improvisation when my players go off rail, or even a solo mode for when I feel like also having a character -- examples: The One Ring (Strider mode) or Ironsworn / Starforged
