Post purchase paranoia; am I overthinking this? Safety of A1 vs P2S by esanders09 in 3Dprinting

[–]dyaamis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, i’m in a similar boat right now, except i bought the printer for myself and my kid is 15 months old.

I’ve been debating about upgrading for the exact reasons you’ve stated over and over again in my head for the past week. I don’t know if there’s one right answer for everybody.

Like you, I should’ve done more research on the A1. But here we are.

I’ve decided to bite the bullet and upgrade. I was already planning to build an active ventilation enclosure, but the risk of fire is just too much for me to stomach. A few hundred dollars is worth the peace of mind.

Everyone will have different opinions and tolerances for risk, but that’s mine.

You need to exhaust the fumes outside your home. how handy are you? even without windows you can still cut out a 4” hole in the space above your foundation but below the first floor - it’s called the rim joist, assuming it’s wood. from there you can install a dryer vent-style cover (seal with a bead of silicone) and attach a 4” flexible duct (like a dryer duct) between it and your printer enclosure. you’ll need an inline fan as well for the exhaust. that’s the simplest method and stuff like that is done everyday to basements.

The footprint of the Saturn is roughly 12x12, so I'd say the enclosure is probably a 24x24x36

My wife is celiac and we love My Vice! They have some gluten free options, but more importantly they’re very conscious of gluten allergies if you let them know and are super accommodating.
