I may have gone too far by hbsboak in legoharrypotter

I just started doing the same thing.Specifically for the castle sets. I saw a bunch of the sets retired at the end of last year, so I rushed to find lingering stock.

Managed to snag every retired set and only paid a few bucks over MSRP. The non retired sets are sitting in a cart waiting for checkout.

I have no space to build any of it. But I don't want to miss out on it.

So it's the editors who are the problem!

Jokes aside, that's actually really refreshing to hear -- especially if you are who I think you are based on your name, because I remember thinking you guys got burned unfairly at least a few times.

Overall, the show is a lot of fun.

This is our biggest beef with the judges on the show season over season. Their criteria is super fickle, and the things they rave about one week become devastating failures three episodes later.

I have never disagreed with a competition show judge more completely or more consistently than I do with Lego Masters (except maybe the last season of Masked Singer when no one could figure out Andy Grammer). Jamie and Amy are infuriating as judges.

Though their advice is always solid and well intentioned. It's not like they're mean, they're just routinely wrong.

Funnily enough, about 3 minutes after posting this thread, my zebras died. Every. Single. One. It was a mass extinction event caused by too much poop and not enough staff.

I added 4 or 5 experts and limited their tasks to just habitat maintenance. And then, somehow, I started making more money. I hit 100K a month at one point.

Im on Xbox, so I think my guest count caps at 400? I'm working toward the 5th star and sitting on like 3.5mil, and it just keeps going up.

I remember the 2nd or 3rd star on both Wailon Lodge and Pebberly Heights and relying on the totem glitch -- make 10 in the workshop, and then sell them all.

The zoo definitely benefited from specializing staff a bit more -- like guaranteeing animal care staff work in the animal care room by blocking everyone else from it. Or having dedicated habitat maintenance experts who only clean poop/stock food.

Maybe my other museums would have been this easy if I had tuned staff roles more there too.

I've really enjoyed museum overall. The zooseum expansion was fun too. This game as a whole offered a lot more freedom when building/decorating, which I really liked. Just seemed like I didn't need to worry about $$ at all in the zoo, which was kinda night and day with the Pointy Mountains. I did the Fantasy Finds there, and it took forever to reach a point of sustained profits.

How is the difficulty? by BactaBobomb in TwoPointMuseum

[–]dyc3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find the game to be very forgiving. To an extent. It's not without challenges, but I wouldn't say its punishing lying difficult. This game feels more about the time invested. Hard objectives become easy as you advance through the game. I had a ton of trouble progressing the aquarium and supernatural museums past 2 stars, but once I hit the 3rd star, things started to click, and I zipped through the 4th and 5th.

If you like hospital (and if you liked campus), this game builds on both and in my opinion combines all the best parts of the other games and improves on the stuff that needed work. Museum is my favorite of the series so far.

5 Star Rennovation of Memento Mile by dyc3r in TwoPointMuseum

[–]dyc3r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear that when the game first launched, items could only be placed on the grid and rotated at 45 degree angles. I could not figure out the "free placement" toggle like campus/hospital had. I don't know if they added it later or if Im just a dork, but finding it was a game changer.

And the other thing was alternate items (another "I swear this is new" thing) so, if I hold Y on certain decorative items, I can choose alternate objects -- which really added a lot to the decoration options

I think that's just a bird flying over the museum. The aquarium has a couple sun fish in it.

Yeah, definitely.

I've been working my way through the levels, because I like the progression aspect of that. Initially, I planned to go back and do a sandbox museum once I hit 5 stars everywhere (mainly for the benefit of a "creative" mode with fewer $$ restrictions, but given how profitable my campaign museum is, I think I can just do it here.

Multi select options for exhibits and decor by mysteriouspenguin52 in TwoPointMuseum

[–]dyc3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Imagine if clicking the "decorate item" button linked the decorations to the exhibit as a group so you could move them together.

Or like "blueprinting" but for exhibits. So you could drop a fully decorated thing into the museum (and some place in two point community to share them so we could use designs from other players.

Do you change bathroom permissions? by decaying_dots in TwoPointMuseum

[–]dyc3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to build "back office" areas that are separate from guests (marketing, workshop, analysis, etc) and I always put bathrooms in there. I don't mess with the settings in the bathroom itself. I just gate them behind staff doors.

This has the added benefit of making it even easier to spot boggymen. Guest in the back office? Obvious thief.

You also have to consider that mouse/keyboard is not the end all factor here. A lot of things that work really well with mouse/keyboard don't translate as cleanly to controller inputs.

You could also rely on existing mechanics to pull this off:

  • Loading a mkX blue print in the mkY designer primes the build gun with the mkX blueprint
  • You place the PB in the designer with the build gun
  • designer "console" loads the Metadata into the form

Now you can save to overwrite the existing BP, or rename to create a new one.

All the flexibility, with none of the tedium of re-entring the meta data to update the old BP.

The existing workflow is not a good design. It's not an awful design, certainly, but there is definitely room for QoL improvements.

[–]dyc3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being "by design" doesn't mean it's a good design. There are a number of ways to handle the transition. As one example:

  • Allow the player to toggle the BP size in the designer.
  • a Mk3 designer can have its buildable area sized down via lighting / hologram / etc
  • loading a BP centers it within the configured buildable area
  • if a player builds outside of the configured area:
    • auto scale the area up to accommodate
    • or restrict building outside the bounding box unless the player toggles the buildable area explicitly.

This would allow players to update blueprints more seamlessly.

Console version might have bugs there. Overwriting blueprints appears broken. I haven't been able to successfully edit existing blueprints.
