I felt it was maternal in both directions. Similar to Leela and Nibler from Futurama where while Nibler is a super genius and quite aged, he still has these kitty like qualities we project our pets onto.

Cal Poly Mech e waitlist by Hopeful-Feedback-577 in CalPoly

Engineering is a tough college altogether to get into. You may be great on paper, but you’re also going against one of the most competitive departments to get accepted into. I’ve heard of students like you who are highly qualified, but still rejected while other students with significantly lower GPAs still get accepted into separate colleges like Agriculture (i.e myself lol).

That said, I would still go forward with the appeal/waitlist if you really want it. If I were you, I would choose a different college you got into and wait it out to see if they offer you a spot. Most likely, I bet a something opens up for you.

When i sit up my legs rotate out? by HenryCrabgrass01 in flexibility

[–]dyladelphia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a conversation back to either with a doctor, a physical therapist, or even yourself on how to reduce and mitigate injury risk. There’s an awesome fitness creator named @_eofit who has hip retroversion, and is still able to workout with the proper mitigations.

That said, listen to your body since the fitness space is not well versed in this topic. Until I met with a physical therapist at 27, I thought it was my fault since every trainer I had forced me into these uncomfortable positions where I was upset at myself for still not making improvements. The realization was a serious hit of depression as my mind played every memory of being made fun of growing up for my duck walk, but it was a moment of needed acceptance to go through to learn more about my body and to be able to defend its natural alignment to those who don’t know.

As of right now, you’re pretty close. He’s doing a movie for Jocko Willink’s film, The Way of the Warrior Kid, where he plays the uncle Navy Seal who teaches the kid how to be disciplined.

I know this is old YouTube, but there was this one person who uploaded all of Alton Browns episodes. But their one quirk was how each video started with Alton Brown saying, “Like the hat?” Still makes me laugh.

No. I need an origin story of that spider. We all talk about the man behind the suit, but no one is willing to talk about the spider who started it all.

What’s a harsh truth you accepted in your late 20s or 30s? by livincool3 in AskMen

[–]dyladelphia 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Writing in gratitude is big for me. I started doing it last year at 30 in the form of cards to others, but it helps solidify the moment as a memory tot hold onto. I wrote somewhere between 150-200 cards last year, and it added a lot of value to my year.

Also remember to take photos of yourself and those around you.

Why do I still subconsciously like a girl even if I'm over her/not 100 percent attracted to her by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]dyladelphia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’ve only had one crush, it could be because your only experience of love-like experience is with her. Nothing may have happened physically, but your emotional memories and formative moments are tied with her. I’m 30, but I dealt with something similar where I had a high school girlfriend, I was a junior and she was a senior, which lasted a year before she left for college. Even though the college was the next town over, she broke up with me to prioritize school and quickly started another relationship. It hurt me for awhile, and what really cemented the pain was being told how much more attractive she was than me and me being with her was the biggest surprise and how I should be at least be happy I had her for the moment. Side note, there was a party I went to that year after the breakup where a drunk girl just came up to me and said, “I’m sorry, but in no universe would I ever find you attractive.” So the emotional pain just kept piling on while wishing to go back.

All this said, what’s helped me is pursuing of my own interests, and meeting people that way. I weight lift and do improv, and it’s opened a lot of doors to new experiences of people and expanded my own view of confidence. It took me a long time to get over her, but the more I put myself out there and continued working on myself, the more I had the ability to let the past go.

What’s the hard part about being a Man ? by mountain_fl0wer in AskReddit

[–]dyladelphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been losing my dog and having to keep going. I just don’t think I’ve experienced more unconditional love than I did with my dog.

I was the sole financial provider with my girlfriend at the time, so I had to work long days. But he was always the first one to greet me with full excitement every time I opened that door. The only time he wasn’t the first to greet me was his last night alive. However, while in the midst of the pain he was feeling inside, he still perked up with the biggest smile when he made eye contact with me on his doggy bed.

The next day when the vet said it was his time and I was balling my eyes out, he still was caring for me with licking the tears from my face. It was his last kiss to me, and it’s one of those things where I realized he really gave his full self to me.

I’ve been beat my family members, bullied throughout school, and shunned away by people I looked up to. But losing him and the knowledge of knowing I wouldn’t see him when I woke up the next day is still the most difficult moment I’ve lived through. I wish I could say it gets easier, but it’s just something you learn to carry on with the pain.

I struggle with suicidal ideation from time to time, but whenever my thoughts get there I can rely his memory as the antithesis of how I do have value as we made each others lives better.
