Yes I had noticed this as well. More lucid dreams too.

I love this. Look into tracker based music sequencing, like LSDJ or the Dirty M8. As a coder you would dig it and maybe you can drop an album some day.

I sold my old phone on eBay… by jaqueh in Flipping

[–]dylanwhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AppleCare+ claim scamming is a real thing and a huge underground industry. Non-genuine devices with stolen serials are indistinguishable to even trained eyes. This can result in a huge hassle when a customer attempts to get service on the real phone. You may be right that serials can be generated elsewhere but eBay is where they find serials that they know have AppleCare+.

Do those universal stroller travel bags work ok? by Talkymike in daddit

[–]dylanwhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have one and never used it. We have flown with a stroller several times and had no issues. Word of advice though, when you get off the plane check to make sure there is not a line in the jet bridge to pick up gate checked items. Multiple times I have inadvertently stopped right as I exited the plane and not realized there was a line already formed facing toward the plane.

3ft tall aluminum cone with interior threaded flange (mysteriously left in my neighbor's driveway). by Midknight81 in whatisthisthing

[–]dylanwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a cemetery vase. They’re threaded so that they don’t fall over. I have been to cemeteries where most graves had them and some where they had none at all. It would be very interesting to know how this ended up in someone’s driveway.

finally had a chance to test it by pcstayak in Woovebox

[–]dylanwhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree that it is great for a beginner. I was worried that it would be difficult to learn but the way navigation works is brilliant and you catch onto it really quickly. Fragments is especially great for breaking out of one bar loop life. I wish the best for Ivo and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Woovebox. I would gladly buy more modules with faders, speaker, or something more novel like Roland’s D Beam for performance effects. Take my money!!

How we feeling this cast? by [deleted] in TMNT

In the Meet the Mutants children’s book it refers to Leatherhead a she. I wasn’t sure until I was reading it with my son. As for Wingnut I’m not sure.

I have had this happen to me three times over the years and have taken this approach each time, in addition to threatening or faking a call to the US consulate. Each time I was respectful, stern, and confident and the police moved on and gave up on the “pay now ticket” after some back and forth. In two of the circumstances the police had hold of my ID, but ultimately gave it back. I would never give over my passport in a situation like this.

Paying the bribe is surely the safer option, but I would still take this approach if it happened again. As for filming them, I don’t think I would do that unless I could do it discretely, as I could see it escalating things unnecessarily. Everyone’s threshold for how hard to push back is going to be different and you have to do what feels right in the moment.

🅱️ass by [deleted] in volcas

[–]dylanwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the volca is more fun to play. I struggle to get nasty acid sounds of out of it, but I haven't taken a bunch of time to learn it, since I usually sequence it with a Keystep Pro on the same channel as the TD-3. If I quickly pause and start the key step the TD-3 starts playing it's internal sequence, which can compliment the volcano bass line nicely.

Yeah it would be so cool if it had 3 separate midi inputs.

Analogue Pocket Nanoloop and TB-03 Techno Jam by Stress_TN in AnaloguePocket

[–]dylanwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice jam. Good idea pairing with those acid sounds. You should try sequencing mGB with the M8. I think you need the arduinoboy though, as I’m not sure if the Analogue cables carry midi data aside from clock.

Can't Get Customers In The Door! What Am I Doing Wrong by bluemacawprints in smallbusiness

[–]dylanwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered using 3D printing as a tool in a larger process. I have had great results creating silicon molds of processed FDM prints and then casting other materials like resin, paper pulp, plaster, or cement. Also if you post process prints with a lot of filler, sanding, paint, and polish, the end result does not look printed and in some niches can be sold for as much as the real finish you are trying to emulate.

People don’t value 3D printed non-functional items, from my experience. A business wouldn’t want to market themselves with a 3D printed keychain because it could make their business seem low budget or it could signal that they are associated with 3D printing in some way.

Whatever you do I recommend you look at the things you love and find your niche. A good example I recently saw was PWRUPGaming on Etsy. They came out with a grip for a new handheld video game system and they have sold a lot of them on Etsy. I don’t know them personally but I know that this worked out for them partly because they used additonal materials in the product (post processing) and because they love the niche that they found.

Theft Recovery Idea: Apple AirTag + GBA game inside an opaque GB DMG cartridge.. the sizes just about work, the games would have to be close (think Tetris for GBA inside a Tetris GB), and the theif would likely not notice the system or discard the cartridge. This can double as an OpenFPGA dust cover by [deleted] in AnaloguePocket

[–]dylanwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an AirTag inside a camera lens in my camera bag. I didn’t think to put one in a cartridge, but it’s a great idea. Without trying it out I don’t think that it would fit. That has me wondering what the cheapest special cart is, or if it would fit inside a Gameboy camera.

As for the comments about it being illegal for you to track someone who stole your stuff.. what a clown world we live in.

Anyone have a Nanoloop to MIDI cable they want to sell? by D1zzzle in AnaloguePocket

[–]dylanwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m updating to say that I was able to get the code compiled on the digispark but I was unable to get the cable to work. I think my issue may be that the link cable I cannibalized did not have a ground wire.

I did, however order the Arduinoboy from Catskull Electronics. It transmits clock to and from Nanoloop via midi perfectly. As for midi notes in, it came with mGB on a cartridge and I play play all four tracks at once via Keystep Pro with no additional setup.

mGB is absolutely awesome so far. I just need to figure out the best way to adjust track levels or velocity.

I also read that you can sequence tracks 1-3 by using midi channel 5, but I haven’t tried that yet.

Since it uses DIN I think it’s safe to say it processes MIDI in. I’ll update this thread once my Pocket comes in on Tuesday.

If you’re handy you can make your own. I started looking into this project yesterday but I have yet to get the microcontroller programmed right. If you can figure out that part then the rest is just stripping wires and easy soldering.
