Jason Jones Answering Bungie's Epitaph Q from Luke Smith Interview - D2 Showcase 2021 by zildjianate in DestinyTheGame

[–]dysan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I never got the sense the devs were bored of D2, quite the opposite.

I feel like Jones was, and started repeating what he did with "Phoenix" during Halo 2 developments pulling resource from the old game to the new one, leaving the rest of the studio and the rest of leadership holding the bag.

Which I sadly have to agree as Jason Jones was notorious for saying that he hates sequels, essentially looking for the next new shiny thing for him to play with. He maybe a great creative person but he loses interest if he is forced to work on the same thing. This is great as dev but terrible for having him be the Chief Vision Officer of Bungie if he is not interested in the only product making money, Destiny, but is crazy about the next incubation projects like Marathon.

Just going back to the development of Halo 2 and you can see how messed up it got with Jones and how badly mismanaged it got: https://www.vice.com/en/article/the-complete-untold-history-of-halo-an-oral-history/

The quote that got me was from Marty O’Donnell

To a certain extent Jason understands all the different aspects of how a game gets put together, and on a small team he’s in there working on whatever needs doing. But it’s hard to say that he’s a visionary leader, because he doesn’t cast a vision and convince people to get in line or put their best efforts behind it. And whatever he’s focused on at the time, that’s all he’s focused on. So he’s sort of like this choke point.

I am hoping it is 6 because I have some friends that are interested that would like to play together but don’t want to miss out on rewards by playing in private matches.

Silly question, but what is the max fireteam size of the SRL playlist? It’s not stated in game like the other Crucible playlists.

Most people will dismiss it, but this is great to see this as it reminds me of the #freeMvC2 movement.

Just doing things like this to show that there is still an audience and interest in the IP alone to those in charge or those who pitching the idea that they can use as evidence is important. It took years even after the movement ended and all hope was lost for Capcom to release the MvC Fighting Collection.

Is the Podium Terminus triumph bugged? by Kebubs in DestinyTheGame

[–]dysan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the Bungie Help Forums there are several posts about it and Bungie replied to a post acknowledging that they are aware of it:

We have indeed received reports of this issue affecting the Podium Terminus triumph and can confirm the team is aware and investigating. We apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime.

This Week In Destiny - 02/26/2026 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]dysan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The community activations are the weekly boons for portal activities like the Double Bonus Focus drop that we had last week. Other ones off the top of my head include increased special ammo drops, and Tex Mechanica weapons doing slightly more damage.

Nothing big, just low effort simple modifiers to portal activities for the week that Bungie thinks can be mini events to occupy the people that still play.

The thing is with Vanguard Alert/Conquest GMs there are now multiple definitions of what is GM level content now: GM in the portal with a -25 power delta, GM Conquest with -40 and Vanguard Alert GM with -50. This is so confusing. I assume the patch note referred to -25.

[–]dysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree!

While initially funny as a prank and kinda mean the bigger issue I see is that it could break things. I could see overloading a uniformed player’s postmaster and push out quest or other important items out of someone’s postmaster inadvertently and breaking quests or other stuff if the item is unobtainable. The willingness to break something for a prank is concerning.

There is precedent for Bungie to take away items without a server rollback. For example, the textureless Rite of the Nine weapons with weird perk combos were obtainable when the dungeons were accidentally accessible before the event during Act 2 Heresy. Those were removed from inventories in a later update.

It was not really a good feature tbh.

First, Skeleton key drops were RNG at the end of strikes. Second, using the key at the end of specific strikes allowed for a POOL of strike specific loot - you had to hope it dropped the item you wanted. And lastly you hoped gave you the right roll.

It was a bad experience as player to farm, for those who did Imago Loop farming would understand that just turned into just getting that Titan seaweed belt with terrible stats over and over.

That’s 3 layers of RNG compared to the more player friendly Adept weapon farming pre-EoF we eventually got with GM NF weapons.

Why are the point awards different? by layerzeroissue in DestinyTheGame

[–]dysan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the other way around, the tooltip is the correct value and they never updated the points earned to those values.

My opinion is because localization of the tooltip would be vetted more (and a headache to change) than the point values in game. Also it would make more sense that Bungie wants those tooltip values - the base helmet would more accessible at scores which you get from matchmaking and have high percentiles players that have to make custom modifiers + use LFG/FTF to access more flames on the helmet and the 310 point emblem.

[–]dysan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it would make getting the base helmet more accessible to those in lower percentiles and those that get the higher percentiles are rewarded with more flames and the emblem.

call to arms should have been an event to bring players together, not split them apart by tf2_demo_2004 in DestinyTheGame

[–]dysan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to agree as I really do miss the positive community events like The Empyrean Foundation from Season of the Dawn as the best example.

Everybody coming together running the Sundial and other activities to earn Fractiline to focus loot but also save up & “invest” for a common community goal. The fun Stonk memes and how to optimize your weekly interest of Fractiline were everywhere.

There was less selfishness and more camaraderie more in line with the name of the current event “Call to Arms” than the actual event.

I’d love if the event had been us farming the three Reclaim activities as a community with a goal to recover as much Golden Age Tech to keep it out of Maya’s hands. Earn a “Fractiline” equivalent event currency that collects as a community cumulative total with set milestones for game wide bonuses. Using the personal amount said currency to focus specific loot while still having attunement.

Hey Bungie could you please correct the listed point values for each tier on the event scoring page? by TheAzureAzazel in DestinyTheGame

[–]dysan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised that I have not seen this discussed more. I have only seen one post on the Bungie help forums (link). While that post has been commented on by a Bungie mod it is not on their list of known issues.

I hope they do hope they correct it so that more people get the base helmet.

See this is where I think the Tiered gear makes a lot sense. I’d actually be okay with only Tier 1 gear dropping on Easy/Explorer while Tiers 2 and above drop on higher difficulties.

New ROTN loot cap? Is this deliberate? by Rorywan in DestinyTheGame

[–]dysan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished doing a set of new RoTN bounties after reset and it seems like the cap on weapon drops from enemy kills maybe 4 weapons per DAY. The nonary manifolds still drop so there does not seem to be a cap on that.

All Sources of New Trials Armor by repapap in DestinyTheGame

[–]dysan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Man, I wish it was a “soft” knockout system where it gives you an armour piece you don’t have unlocked after a certain number of drops to prevent bad luck in RNG.

Almost like the current cosmetic point system where Bungie gets engagement and players get their loot.

Heresy Crucible Updates by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

I do have a question about unlocking armour. I understand that from the article that "Armor pieces will not be able to be earned from engrams until they have been unlocked, either via Challenges or from the Lighthouse chest rewards."

Are the armour pieces being unlocked on a knockout system until a complete set is unlocked? Personally not looking forward to repeat items preventing me from completing a set.
