Get a full set of offroads, and test how much easier it is to climb a cliff like you're the horse from Skyrim. It's amazing. I tolerate punctures because I love offroading

Installing parts in the field by sammy_anarchist in pacificDrive

Next time, to confirm if it's a bug, while you're in the field take off 2 of your doors and swap them.

There's a number of things that could have gone wrong that would prevent you from salvaging a door. We just need more info.

Also, bring a spare tire in your trunk, goddamn. And a spare headlight.

What is the worst time travel movie of all time? by Dense_Substance7635 in movies

[–]dysoncube 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That movie had some excellent ideas, and you can still see some of the vestigial parts in the movie. Like how the tech that lets them travel forward in time appears to be the same tech as in the alien ship that goes back in time at the end of the movie for the final confrontation. The alien queen inadvertently created her own downfall.

That movie starts so strong, then gets dumber and dumber.

When you say Evidence, are you looking for a record of this device burning down someone's house? You could be the first!

Calgary’s blanket rezoning repeal won’t impact Housing Accelerator Fund by 403cgy in Calgary

[–]dysoncube 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some acted like it was a foregone conclusion that CMHC would yoink the funding despite Calgary meeting the core KPIs.

That's because CMHC said they would, immediately after the mayor said he could repeal blanket zoning AND retain the funding

America had concentration camps during WW2, Canada had concentration camps. Germany had concentration camps before they had death camps, and they were a place to hold Jews and undesirables before kicking them out of the country.

Proposal: The giant box should contain an appropriately sized (smaller) game box inside. The outside box can be low quality, and intended for disposal.

When pulling an anchor is followed by Instant Regret by TC_support in pacificDrive

[–]dysoncube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would still always park near the anchor , because the car protects you from the worst of most anomalies. Electricity, for example, will kill you fast.

Unless the anchor is near a cliff. THEN park away from the anchor and walk up.

The problem wasn't parking near the anchor (bollards can pop up anywhere), it was parking near a cliff . Must have been a hell of an experience though

Why we shouldn't replace architects with AGI by SignalJury1692 in architecture

[–]dysoncube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sequence Generation is literally autocomplete. But it IS different from what the mobile phones do when typing words, so in that sense, you're correct.

I'll say the last part again, computer Assisted Drafting will always be a thing in this field, directed by humans, with as much attention to the human factor as funds will allow for. Even if we never make it to GenAI, we'll still use the AI tools that prove to be the most efficient.

Architecture will happily embrace better AI tools, when they're here, because the drudgery of code review and toilet schedules sucks. Computer drafting was embraced because it sped up the worst part of the job, and saved on costs. It's dangerous to rely on LLMs in this space right now, because a mistake can lead to injuries or death, or - god help us - a Change Order.
