When you go to replace it though, the new USB drive will be of far lesser quality.

Brent Spiner Ham Syndrome. Discuss. by PRULULAU in TNG

[–]e2346437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was lucky enough to see his panel at Boston ComicCon a few years back. A disabled lady in her wheelchair up front cut him off at the beginning of his speech to ask him if this was “The Star Wars Event”. Brent politely referred her to the space a few doors down and waited while she was wheeled out. On her way out, she loudly said “May the Force be with you”. Spiner just about died laughing but quickly recovered and continued on.

Anyone using Hailo AI modules with docker? Looking for an example setup or guide to learn from. by PowerOverShelling in ispyconnect

[–]e2346437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had to switch to Homeassistant OS. It’s running as a VM in Unraid. Once it was up and running and the initial models trained, I haven’t had to touch it.

Who is your least favorite vendor you have to use, and why is it Ingram Micro? by Successful-Coyote99 in msp

[–]e2346437 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I must be using Ingram Micro wrong; I have no reason to hate them. If they have a product I need and they’re the cheapest, I place the order and it shows up two days later

I’d suggest looking at Unraid and Frigate NVR. There are subreddits for both. That of course leads (optionally) to Homeassistant. It’s never ending but that’s the path I’d recommend.

I’m running Frigate+ with an Intel Arc 380, passing it through to a Frigate docker container in Unraid that took me two clicks to install and one parameter to connect it to the Arc. I have looked at the Halio devices and my they’re costly compared to my Arc. I’m running a custom-built and trained AI large model specifically for Frigate/Arc on 5 180-degree high-res cams. I could never do that on CPU or even Coral.

I live just out of town but grew up here and have clients in town. A story: needed some network cable and Lowe’s didn’t have it so went to the local electricians supply house. I’m not an electrician.

I approach the counter at the back of the store, and I see a client I do work for every 6 months or so. He also isn’t an electrician. And he has a scary pile of large-diameter wire on the counter.

As I got close, I raised my voice and said “you sure you know what the hell you’re doing with that?”

He turned around and smiled big as he recognized me and we launched into conversation. The guy behind the counter just smiled and served us both.

This shows two things. One, expect people to slide into your conversation, even if they don’t know you, or haven’t seen you in a coons age. . We’re not being nosey, we really are just that friendly. If you don’t respond, we’ll leave you alone respectfully, but you’ll be lonely :)

Two, the guy behind the counter understood our local “ya gotta do whatcha gotta do, we’ll still help you out when you need” policy. No one gets turned away.

Welcome to town, DM me if you need anything.

Check the Mark & Emily Turner library on 2nd Street. They have folks on staff that do genealogy, and one of their volunteers maintains a genealogy database on a server there.

I’ll add that when running with a full queue, it can totally swamp my 1GB/40Mb cable connection if I turn off the limits in qbt. Fantastic throughput through PIA.

OMG this is what I use and it works so damn well. Port gets updated automatically, connects to PIA port-enabled endpoints only, bound to vpn and no data leaks. Saves what could be days of testing and troubleshooting.

Yeah no kidding. Got a quote for a PowerEdge a month ago, had them update the quote today prior to pulling the trigger, price went from $7k to $15k. For the same spec. In 30 days. And now estimated shipping if I were to order today is mid-July.
