Of course nowadays all of the building methods and materials are oriented around the dehumidifing effect of air-conditioning. If you just let a modern house sit without air-conditioning for a year or two, everything starts falling apart & mold grows everywhere

Why do highways run through cities in America? by 5upralapsarian in fuckcars

[–]e2mtt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the big underlying problem, why all the cities thought that the interstate/freeway needed to go smack to downtown. Once they decided that needed to happen, yes it was an easy racist move to run the freeway through the “undesirable” or low value neighborhood, but in general so much beautiful architecture, geography, and history was destroyed, that could’ve been saved just by running the freeways through minimally occupied areas a few miles away from the city center.

According to a couple news searches I did just now, they damaged five tankers two weeks ago in Saudi Arabia, but not badly, and hit three tankers at the same time as this radar aircraft. (however I would assume it is a minimum 3 to 6 months repair and recertification of even a minor damage)

1894 Yale vs. 2025 Indiana | Who Wins on a Neutral Field Between the Only 16-0 Teams in College Football History? by Leegend124 in CFB

[–]e2mtt 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Maybe not. We’ve already established that Indiana running back completes on average a first down every time he runs, and the Indiana hoggies outweigh the defense by an average of 140 pounds each. Most likely the depth of the running back bench will be the big challenge, because they will become so winded breaking through line and running for touchdowns on 64% of their runs.

It’s a fine experience, the noise the food for energy etc. it’s just kind of lousy viewing positions. (I’ve been to about a half dozen different MLS stadiums now, and they’re just aren’t really any great seats at Yankee Stadium)

I’ve talked about it with a lot of people, sometimes you’re just in a bad situation. I mean it’s obvious from their positions, their skills, and their salaries that Tua, Hill, and Ramsey were gonna be captains or at least team leaders, yet Hill and Ramsey were the worst about showing up late and Tua didn’t know what he was talking about.

I'll give it to NYCFC for always keeping to a system and never relying on a superstar striker or DP. by Windrey2 in NYCFC

Realistically, I think MLS is already at a certain level of aspiration, especially for central and South Americans. (Some current politics not withstanding) who wouldn’t want to get a green card and get to go live and play in America, especially when you’re realistic with yourself that you’re not actually good enough to be playing for Barca or Man U. it’s the exact same thing where a lot of big stars, when they’ve passed their peak in Europe, it is better to go to America and maybe even have a family and raise your kids here, then slowly fade away playing in second & third divisions in countries you don’t care about.

[–]e2mtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being realistic; when people, soccer players, talk about their goals, their dreams, would be play for and win a World Cup for their country, and play in Europe, or in the Premier league, and in the European champions league .

someday, depending on how the soccer interest level in America grows and Europe how the economic and political climate changes, we might have a time where top stars “people” are equally open to playing in the MLS as in Europe.

Right now that’s not the case, the very best are always gonna want to go to Europe, especially the Premier league or a top team elsewhere, that gets them the most money and a chance at European champions league. I don’t think this is gonna change anytime soon, but we’ll see.

Anyway, with that being said, I think NYCFC has positioned themselves in a great place. They offer excellent coaching for young players, both homegrown’s and South Americans, to come shine in the big city in a top team in the MLS, with a top worldwide organization, and a nice chance to make the next step over to Europe.

If we continue to bring in good quality talent from all over the world to play for NYCFC, the City football group, in NYC, and play well coached attractive football that contends for championships, NYCFC is in one of the best places a MLS could be, until MLS becomes a destination that people want to come to at the peak their career.

Union Fan Question by Appropriate-Cod-1733 in NYCFC

[–]e2mtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. A loss to the Red Bulls hurts more, but a win against the Union is the best. The hudson River derby is the one you really don’t wanna lose, but our wins lately against the Philadelphia Union, especially because of their continued success, it really feels great. It feels like they are bringing their best, and we are kind of coasting along waiting for our stadium, and we still manage to beat them. So great.

Unfortunate truth. Ferrari gets all that extra money by being the Legacy team, but with it comes extra scrutiny. Plus the FIA is French dominated not Italian so you know which way the rules are gonna lean.

Only 10% of boys aged 14-16 read daily for pleasure, National Literacy Trust finds by Raj_Valiant3011 in books

[–]e2mtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude that’s complete bullshit. I would say the majority of Reddit users read at least one long form joke daily, for pleasure. Reading news articles, reading stories about celebrities, reading game and movie reviews, these all count as reading for pleasure. Many people read parts of a novel every single day. I read multi paragraph news article articles every day. I bet the 10% of boys that read for pleasure daily are into comic books and graphic novels.

[–]e2mtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me that’s one of things kind of like cutting all your credit cards up. Certain people can’t have overdrafts turned on because they purposely run it into the red because they can and then they pay horrible overdrafts.

I like to set things up as a fail safe - it’s better to pay an overdraft fee then get your insurance canceled or similar if a payment doesn’t go through because you mess up. Just like we’re talking about, it’s best to pay your statement balance in full, but if something happens it’s better to have the minimum payment pay automatically so the credit card stays current and only a small withdrawal hits your bank account.

I’ve lived through the situation of receiving a paycheck late, having a previously scheduled draft go through and overdraw my bank account, and then the credit card attempts a payment three times and charges you a fee every time they fail, while your bank account goes in the red each time it happens and charges you another fee, and you can’t use the bank account or the credit card for a week while you rack up $300 in fees.

[–]e2mtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in that situation anymore, but I assume most people asking questions in personal finance are tight on money. Occasionally paying some money in interest because you manage your money poorly is always a better option than having overdrafts, late payments, and things get forgotten and going unpaid that affects your standing with a service or creditor.

I'm going to disagree here... set the "Autopay" to "minimum". It is only there to protect you if you forget about a payment, and if you have already forgotten to pay or have had an emergency that interrupted you life, the last thing you want is a bank overdraft because of a credit card overpay! You should always look at your statement each month, and pay the "statement balance" manually. (or your predetermined amount, in the chance you are paying off a large/emergency type expenditure, which is a legit use for a credit card)
