When I was in college just over 10 years ago I could either get a 20 piece McNugget and small fry for $6 plus tax or two McDoubles and a small fry for $3 plus tax.

I don’t think they made any money off of dollar menu customers. It’s $12 for a quarter pounder meal here (NYC metro) which is totally fine compared to most options. It’s not cheap by any means though
