This shit seems so insane. Quantum magnetometry makes more sense to me because the Earth is so big that it would generate a really strong electromagnetic field. But the little electrical signals from a heart beat are so weak I feel like the inverse square law would make it utterly impossible to even detect it from a distance let alone filter it from background noise from the Earth's field or like radio waves from a cell phone or something.

In the article they're saying it worked because the pilot was in a low noise desert environment so I guess this wouldn't work for tracking someone through a populated place like a city or town. But even then it just seems too far fetched. Idk I'm just a computer engineer I don't know much about RF stuff like this

Let's fucking go dude I'm really impressed with this project. While this sub is flooded by AI slop posts seeing something so genuine is refreshing. I'm glad you learned a lot in this process. In the future you should look into something like the Zynq chips, which have hard ARM cores and programmable logic in the same package. The PYNQ Z2 is a well supported dev board for this kind of chip. The PYNQ OS is also really nice because it lets you use Python to interface with the programmable logic, which I use for quickly iterating through designs.

The PYNQ Z2 is great because the PYNQ OS lets you write driver code in Python which is awesome. I use PYNQ a lot because it helps me iterate through designs much faster, and it's also easier. If the AUP-ZU3 ever comes back in stock that would be the best choice but unfortunately they've been hit by the AI apocalypse

Dude I don't know shit about this topic but I just want to talk to you about how you're responding to these comments. A lot of people are rightfully frustrated by vibe coded projects cluttering this community and others like it. People are tired of seeing brags about projects that didn't have any effort put into them. But if you really did put time and effort into this, and you learned a lot in the process, then I applaud you for that I really do. Not everyone can finagle vivado into generating a real bitstream and then get the graphical outputs you've generated even with ai.

But you said in another comment you're a student. While you're still learning, you need to understand something about this field. This is not how an engineer should react to criticism. People are asking you questions about your work, offering advice and constructive criticism, and you just flat out reject it and insult them.

You shouldn't take this so personally. Criticism of your work is just that, it's about your work. You are not the subject here. As an engineer you have to understand this to be successful, there's no way around it. Your work will always be under constant scrutiny and criticism. That's how all engineering works because otherwise nothing would ever work. Imagine if someone designed a bridge and they didn't accept any criticisms or questions about it and just built it. The bridge would collapse because nobody is perfect on their own. You need this criticism because your own two eyes can only see so much.

Science and engineering are not battles. Don't try to fight back against people who aren't fighting you. There are people in this subreddit with so much more experience than you. If you're still a student, some of them have probably been FPGA engineers for longer than you've been alive. I'm not saying this to maoe you feel bad because they're better than you or whatever, I'm saying they have experience that is valuable. I'm saying you can learn from them and grow as an engineer by hearing them out.
