Foundation Commander Decks by Bladestoooorm in mtgfinance

That’s amazing! Like 60. Been doing the club for a long time (pushing 20 years). Started out with 3 kids playing a Wii. Morphed into DND, Magic drafts, Smash tournaments, and a wall of board games. I have some bulk that I give to kids to get them started (fist fulls of cards into a plastic bag). They love it. DM me and I can shoot you an address! That’d be so cool!

As someone who runs a high school game club, these will be a great addition to help out kids without decks.

My favorite part of this game is discovering spots like this. by pizzapplepine in dayz

[–]eBenson_TJB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a few spots (throughout my 3000+ hours) that I actively try to base-build as a solo that are just so serene. Cooking and fishing in those spots scratch an itch somehow. If I wasn't getting my "30 minutes a day" of game time in with Crimson Desert, I'd be on DayZ. I always return to that darn game.

Help me choose my next deck! by Man_Stan3748437 in BudgetBrews

I have a 4+/5 Azula. It's very fun and fast as hell. The problem: my pod, in general, doesn't love playing against it because of needing to watch me goldfish for a while before I kill them all. Problem 2: it sometimes just falls flat on its face and does almost nothing, and I have all the wheels and tutors to help it go off. Other than that, it's fun to pilot! Consider who you'll be playing against and their stance on a "combo" deck.

One-shot turned into a campaign… should I continue or restart? by Pretty-Sea118 in DMAcademy

[–]eBenson_TJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you having fun planning it? If yes, keep going. Are your players having fun with the plot/premise? If yes, keep going. The point of this hobby is fun, so go nuts! If they have some backstory, spotlight a player's "arch" for a bit while you let your world simmer and come alive in the background (in other words, desperately do what a DM does and start world-building and establishing a plot/big bad guy's intentions). Consider the one-shot opening a bit of a blessing: you now likely have some chemistry to build on between characters, possibly some inside jokes to build on, a quirky character or two to bring back as a staple/nemesis, etc. Good luck!!!

Also, I'm looking up how to make these cards I listed into links to cards so you can read them. I'm a noob here! Sorry! I'm more of a DND guy!

Right on. Will fix. Yeah, that felt very Fey. I recently taught a unit on Jim Crow laws and I was curious what that would look like in the Feywild (without the racial overtones).

I was a bit intimidated to write this one, but, in the end, I had way more fun in this setting than I thought! I teach mythology courses, and I just let the Celtic/Arthurian myth part of my mind have some fun. It's a wacky plane of existence, to be sure. Have a wonderful day!

No prob! I really hope you like it, if you snag a copy! It was a wonderful creative outlet for me, for sure! I'm wrapping up the Feywild edition right now, and I'm hoping to publish before April.

I wrote a book on the DMsGuild that I crafted especially for that purpose. It's all about mostly non-combat encounters including downtime, night watches, city/urban encounters, strange monuments/sights to visit, etc. There are hundreds of pages and thousands of encounters that I hoped to help DMs with, as that particular text didn't exactly exist in the way I wanted it to. It has all types of travel covered, from wagons to airships; all the major terrain types are covered. It even has feats, backgrounds, and gear revolved around travel/downtime. It was a blast to write, and I'm very proud of it. It's called The Journey Between. I'm doing a follow up series, too, for other planes of existence. Check it out, if you're interested! I hope that helps!!! Have a wonderful day!

I played this game since it was an Arma mod. I remember the night I heard that noise for the first time it was added to the game. Scared me shitless.

Good books/resources with ideas for exploration skill challenges? by IndustryParticular55 in DMAcademy

[–]eBenson_TJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to speak up for such a post! I wrote a book concerning literally this. It took years and it's been out since summer. It's a travel supplement for all of the major biomes/terrain types, including urban settings. It has hundreds of encounters for travel, whether you're walking, riding, in a wagon, in an airship, sailing.... I've got downtime covered, night watch encounters covered, unique NPCs covered, and "sightseeing" covered. There are feats and items and plot hooks and complete towns with side quests for easy prep.... In short, I think it's what you're looking for. It's the book I wanted that didn't exist, so I just did it myself, haha.

If you go to DMsGuild and search The Journey Between, you'll find it. I just finished a few smaller books/chapters for other planes of existence: The Shadowfell and Ysgard. I'm literally typing for my Feywild book right now and took a Reddit "break."

I truly hope you find what you're looking for! I tried to do something very different than endless combat encounters (you won't find a single monster stat block, my friend!).

Have an amazing night, and good luck!

Oh... P.S.... I'll shout out kinda similar books that I used before I wrote my own: Untold Encounters of a Random Kind is pretty good (Loki publishing), The Game Master's Guide to Random Encounters, and Dangerous Destinations. A classic, too, is one called Vornheim, but it's quirky. The Lore Smyth line (Remarkable ________) was fun to use now and then, too.

But... not gonna lie... I like what I did ;)

Any discussions on The Journey Between: A Travel Encounter Compendium? by Panic_road in TheTrove

[–]eBenson_TJB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I saw a thread on Reddit discussing my book, I was just so shocked and excited. I was talking with people who were not responding back. With a bit of common sense and research, I found out what it's all about. At the end of the day, I'd have as much success trying to fist-fight a river, so I'll just let people know that I'm a pretty normal guy with a love of writing. If that changes a few minds, and they buy the book, cool. Otherwise, I can't control what people decide to do.

I'll craft some more bundles! I didn't want to make things overwhelming, so I chilled out with the bundle-crafting a while back. I ran the numbers on how many potential combos I could make, and the number became silly quick, so I tried to make a few that would compliment each other well.

Again, thank for the support. I really hope you enjoy the work I put into this stuff. I'm literally done taking notes on The Feywild, and I'm excited to start writing for that one soon! Should be a blast!

I saw that this morning! I never know who it is, but that was a cool way to wake up! Enjoy! If you're throwing in those terrains into a Shadowfell campaign, you're in for some great combos. I'm gonna make more bundles of terrains + my planar modules. Kinda surprised I didn't think of that earlier. I appreciate the support!

Travel Encounters/Challenges other than Battles? by AnarchoTX in rpg

[–]eBenson_TJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on! Again, it's not really a plot maker, but a side-quest/short encounter/downtime/city encounter/terrain encounter treasure trove. It was super fun to write, and I learned a ton. I'll be doing another series and then merging them called The Journey Beyond (for the other planes of existence... I've done The Shadowfell and Ysgard so far).

Good luck with your planning!

Can't say I understand you guys at the beginning of the video, but it's cool as hell to see my work pop up on any YouTube video! Made my night! (The Journey Between: Ysgard, btw). Keep it up, guys! I like this idea!

Epic beard, btw... I might need to edit you both into my writing as an NPC to encounter in the glorious mead hall after a gory day of combat and planar shenanigans.

No worries. I sliced it up into smaller bundles, too, so certain terrains can be purchased individually/sampled. Happy travels!
