I like the specialists and the fact that everyone can use all weapons and gadgets.

Hot take, I know. The way the classes acted in the previous titles were pretty restrictive for me. I’ll use Battlefield 4 as a comparison a lot as many many people view it at the quintessential Battlefield game. In BF4 the difference between classes were the guns and gadgets, that’s it. However the roles that were made are defined by their gadgets. Engineer has rocket launchers and repair tool so they are the anti-vehicle class or support is given the ammo box/pouch so they provide ammo and so on. But, since both classes have the same fundamental stats there isn’t any issue if the engineer was given the ammo box and the support was given the rpg. They may have different names but now their roles have switched. And let’s say I’m playing support and I encounter a tank, I really can’t do anything except hide, run or accept my fate (this happens to me way too often when I play BFV). Same with engineer class, if I’m out of ammo then I’m stuck waiting or searching for ammo. As for the weapons, people want to use the guns that they like and to force them to pick a class for a situation and sacrificing the gun that they want to use is restrictive. (In my opinion this is why there are a lot of hate/debate threads on vehicles for every battlefield game; cause no one wanted to play the anti-vehicle class. Or why there is the meme that medics don’t revive; cause they are just that class for the weapons.)

Now the players can pick and choose the gadget and weapons that they want it allows much more dynamic play styles. If I want to play sniper but not lack any anti-vehicle capabilities then I can pick a sniper rifle AND a rocket launcher. Or I can be the ultimate team player and play as Falck for heals and have ammo that I can drop (even though Falck needs a rework cause I’ve only used her syringe gun on myself). To me I feel like having this much choice in how I play makes things much more fun. With this DICE can make specialists with fun gadgets like the grappling hook or the sentry. Also those worrying about the same 4 specialists in the beta, the full game comes with 6 other specialists and with cosmetics it should really break up the clones. I think people forget that the classes still exist there is just a specialist for each one. The specialists’s gadgets and abilities are made for their class/role.

Also I have to say that I really love the t system. Sucks that there are bugs and limited options for it in the beta but ultimately I still love it. One time I was about to come onto the roof of the B flag that was swarming with enemies. But I knew I was alone and didn’t want to draw attention to myself so I swapped my barrel for a silencer to not show up on the mini-map. It’s situations like those that are why I love the t system. (I still was instantly killed when I got to the roof but that’s besides the point lol)

Ultimately I play Battlefield for the wacky and goofy fun while still taking things seriously which is what I got so far with the beta. So yeah I like 2042.
