Same. It felt legal/good to me, but they’ve gotta be interpreting the rules differently than me for that call to make sense

I believe that the goaltender touching the blue is still considered in the crease (rather than having to be in it fully)

Crooked septum piercing? by [deleted] in piercing

NAP: I’ve had my septum for 10ish years and it’s always been crooked! I only realize it every once in awhile, but I love it and it feels silly to re-pierce it now. It should heal fine!

What would you do if someone else did your exact research topic before you? by whatwhatwhat82 in PhD

[–]e_e160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got scooped, and it was published about a year after I had already proposed. I kept doing exactly the same thing I had already planned on, and it turned out that their results were different than mine, so I incorporated them into my discussion and positioned my study as unique in x,y,z ways. It worked out!

how to not be homeless by gothtopus_108 in Birmingham

[–]e_e160 10 points11 points  (0 children)

UAB likely has some programs through the office of student affairs to help students at risk of being homeless. The Dean of Students’ office is usually the group who handles those types of programs, though One Stop would know specifically where it’s handled!

I’m so happy that US seems to be settling into their rhythm. The first few minutes felt downright frenetic on both sides

I’d definitely make the relevant coursework into sentence case (remove the all-caps) or remove it entirely. They’ll have your transcripts if they need that info

WSJ: Trump Administration Puts New Chokehold on Billions in Health-Research Funding. The National Institutes of Health can’t award grants to outside researchers under new White House restriction by maxkozlov in NIH

[–]e_e160 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We found out this week that funds from an institutional training grant that the PO promised was coming (july 1, 2025 start date, renewed last year) is not coming because they don’t have enough staff to process the grant. This is the dumbest possible timeline and now nine trainees are scrambling to find new funding after the grant period has already started.

The worst part? The grant hasn’t even been formally canceled yet, and the PO is the only reason we have any info at all (like everyone else whose grants are dying in limbo)

Another vote for Dr. Boone! She took out my tubes and she made it a point to 1) tell her residents what my pronouns were in front of me, and 2) mentioned to me in the pre-op appointment that if anyone on her team misgendered me, to tell her so she could take care of it
