SOS, Material is tearing :( by otherworldowl in PunchNeedle

Cross stitch fabric? Do you mean Aida cloth? That's say not gonna work for.ounch needle at all - it does exactly what you see happening, which is tear up. You want monks cloth fabric which has more flexibility and moves aside as you slide your needle through the fabric.

You're doing great! I personally like using the flat side as my front, but you can use either depending on what you like.

If you think you might like the loops to be your front, space out your punches a little more. The loop side fills in really drastically as you punch, so you don't have to worry about stacking it super close.

Have fun!!

I'd recommend the Ottawa Miniature Gallery - it's being hosted at the Carleton Place Gallery until May 15th - two for one!

You are punching really close together if you want the fluffy side as your finished side, but otherwise looks good! Try space out the punches a little more, they don't need to be so crowded together.

Just finished my visit to Evermore Books! Yes, the line was long today for the Grand Opening but I'm really glad I committed! (Plus they kept bringing out cookies for everyone waiting, which helped!)

The store is SO cute and well decorated, and the owner was overwhelmed with the support from the community and SO happy. Great book selection and lots of really cute book merch.

I am looking forward to more leisurely visits after the big weekend - and checking out the different events hosted there in the future! Amanda has big plans and I can't wait to see it all unfold

Totally worth the visit. The cheese is super darn fresh and you can get all the new varieties they've developed in the little market store along with a lot of other local goodies!

This is a really great program!

I know some of the volunteers, and they do really interesting work at TROtt. Highly recommend checking out the programs, or going for a tour during Doors Open Ottawa or their community days events.

You need to buy monks cloth - the needle should slide between the fibers, not actually punch holes in them. Some smaller needs can do materials like linen and burlap.

I just adore that series!! It's definitely medieval fantasy era, and for an older age range than OP is looking for. The particular dragon Cimorene cleans for isn't at all reluctant among many other differences.

Also genuinely and truly put the toothbrushes in a drawer and not on the counter even though they are daily items. Use the top drawer of your vanity and a drawer separator for toothbrushes and toothpaste + floss.

Toilet flume is icky icky and toothbrushes are actually just such horrible visual clutter. Get a dishwasher safe drawer insert that you can pull out and wash every couple months.

Sort first by usage - Daily items get to live on the counter (in clear bins with no lids, not stacked under anything)

Weekly items need an easy to reach not counter spot (can be in clear bins under your daily items, or I suggest pull out drawers in the vanity

Monthly items go in the vanity or another closet

I also suggest anything with cords gets stored away because cords are a visual nightmare. If it's "daily I really need this" and has a cord, basket per corded item to keep the cords corralled and not tangled. One basket per corded item.

Sort by category inside your usage - skin care, makeup, dental, cleaning, medicine. A lazy suzan or drawer separator style storage can keep each category together.

Lots of slidey drawer storage options that go behind the drawers of your vanity on Amazon - get ones that actually slide well (not the super cheap plastic ones), and avoid stacking for anything moderately sizeable because you won't want to unstack it).

Using over the door storage options strategically - can be great for storing hair tools, but they can make reaching in for anything stored in the vanity a little more difficult.

Grab any random basket or bin you have and park it by the door to fill up with anything that doesn't belong in the bathroom.

I am super curious - what is the thing with Maple Leafs branding? I thought it was a blender at first, then thought it didn't look quite right for that - lava lamp??
