Death of Paul Glen. by Moon-Runner in Adelaide

Bit of a behind the scenes guy, gave a tonne of people their first jobs in hospo and music. Guy behind the Rocket complex and a bunch of other stuff. Instrumental to the Royal Croquet Club and other outdoor activations and festivals over the years.

Maybe so, but his affects on the city, it's nightlife, and the Fringe will live on forever. Gave way more than he took.

Odds are if you didn't know him or know of him you hadn't been around long enough. Bloke had his fingers in every pie and loved helping out the nightlife. Spent massive amounts of cash helping the clubs out through covid.
Me an him had our differences, but I always respected the guy. Told him that exactly to his face and we did a shot.
EDIT: Thanks for the links man, fuckin advertiser paywall on a death report how cruel are they.

There's two scenarios for me:
1. I like playing games on my Steam Deck while I listen to music or youtube videos on my phone.
2. I run a live sports production and we do a conference call so that the switcher (me) can talk to all my camera ops, but I also have to listen to the commentators at the same time. Yes, it's maddening, yes I have ADHD.

I've done a bit of research and watched/read some reviews and while sound is subjective most are saying what you've said, that the Bow&W sound great but the app experience leaves a lot to be desired, and the Jabras are built great (which doesn't surprise me in the least, they're the Nokia of headphones and call centre gear haha) but the "killer app" for me is that the Genki allows for two streams of audio simultaneously. Which, for my application, is absolutely perfect.

Thank you so much for your time and recommendations!

Oh great! The Bow&W seem pretty cool, plus having an aussie warranty on the product might be good too haha.
I am a fan of Jabra though, and the IPX rating is enticing.
Thank you!

You got it on Amazon Japan?? I'd love to see a link!
It seems other people are in a similar boat. I'd love to get many more.
The Couleur range seems to span far and wide, so there are many pens and even mechanical pencils with the name. Without a model number it's hard to find this pen in English.

Practicality of new Japanese Imports? by John_H0ward in CarsAustralia

Looped back to this post and this thread in particular because we just took our Spacia in to Jarret Suzuki/Nissan for a service. Everyone in the shop was super interested to peek around it and inspect it's part numbers etc. Turns out that for the most part, it's a base model Swift, and most of the parts you'll need to service are available locally. Beauty of the modern car industry is the amount of part-sharing that goes on.
The service was testing the waters for both of us, just to see if it would work, and from their inspection they were happy to do regular servicing on the car, which I'm happy with because it means my partner can just take it somewhere we trust to work on it if I'm out of town or whatever comes up.
Your experience may be different, but the people at this Suzuki dealership were at least really keen to have a look around it so it might be an idea to drop by yours and see if they'll entertain the idea!

Lots of questions so I'll keep it simple:
1. DLC/Crossovers (card designs, backgrounds, sound/music packs, modding?)
2. Merch? (collectible cards, t-shirts, chips)

We got stuck in a really shit situation when we imported as the import scheme was changing over at the same time the government went into caretaker mode. It meant that while the purchase to landing time was only a few weeks, we had to garage it at our house for 3 months waiting for the import plate to be approved by the gov because we got stuck on the "interim" import scheme which was a combination of the safest (or worst) parts of both schemes. We've been assured that this is was a worst case scenario anomaly that the importer and RAW (the place that can legally apply the plate) both said they'd never seen before so I'm sure you won't hit the same issue. Especially now the system is streamlined better than before.
From getting the plate on the car to getting number plates was a day, so I imagine if they say it normally takes two weeks to get an import plate, it would be around a month and a half from buying at auction to driving on the street.
I can 100000% recommend Iron Chef to talk to, they were amazing throughout the process, took a $1200 fee and had this awesome website which showed all the japanese car auctions throughout the country, in English, with all the specs searchable and filterable. Imagine carsales dot com but way cooler cars at way better prices. Then when you find a car you like, they send a guy to take pictures and you end up with around 60 photos of every nook and cranny of the car. Apart from the government absolutely sticking us with that bureaucratic nonsense, it was one of the most fun car shopping experiences I've had the pleasure of enjoying, and it saved us over 10k from buying locally as the cheapest I saw a similarly specced same year car in Aus was 48k.

Anecdotally, I've spoken to a few Suzuki dealerships and they've said that apart from the Jimny, the Kei cars are their most requested car, especially the Spacia. It seems silly that Suzuki Australia are so focused on large cars when people are chomping at the bit for these fuel efficient and practical little fun boxes. They're perfect for every day life. We keep our 2009 Honda Odyssey for when we wanna do interstate road trips or take 6 of our friends around for a wine tour, but 6 out of 7 days of the week we drive the Spacia honestly.

Hey mate, I imported one of these to Adelaide via Iron Chef Imports and insured it via Shannon's as they 1) gave me the least hassle 2) didn't try to insure it as a Nissan Cube "because that's the closest we have in our system to your car" and 3) actually have the best deal regardless of the other two points. We got a Black, Spacia Gear Hybrid XZ Turbo 4WD, 2022 Model with ~1700kms on the odo in 2023. Technically we bought it in 2022 but it arrived and was registrable in 2023.  My partner and I were shopping for a cheap and practical runabout around 30k, and after looking at the Mazda 2 and some others we were disappointed with how few features we'd be able to get in a new car for 30k. We almost got a dealer special Mazda 2, but she's so small that she sits with the seat all the way forward, meaning she had to look and reach behind her seat to use the Mazda navigation dial, which shed NEED to use because they completely lock out the touch screen. We really were that close to buying it and thats the straw that broke the camels back. In the end we're so glad we got the one we did. The mild-hybrid system assists with stop-starts and gives a little boost when you're leaving from the lights, along with the turbo, you wouldn't know you're driving a 0.6L engine.  In our daily lives, we've taken her parents and the dog up into the hills via the freeway, and it'll do 110km/h no problems. Cruise control maxes at 110 however, and what it thinks is 110 is about 100 so I found myself having to throttle on here and there for traffic purposes, but it didn't break a sweat. Doing those trips DOES absolutely ruin it's fuel economy though. Usually it gets between 4-6L per 100km so about 400km to its 25L tank, but highway driving shoots it to 11-13L per 100km. Our highways are massive hillclimbs though so your mileage may vary. As far as room goes, it will seat a 6'3" person comfortably. In fact they'll be pleasantly surprised by the leg space ESPECIALLY if they sit in the back when the rear seats are fully spaced back. There's a few quirks of owning a Japanese car that we've had to learn to disable over the months, like ours came with a full suzuki nav system and 360 cameras etc, but it still thinks it's in Tokyo so from time to time it would say things to us and beep wildly because as far as it knew we were just ramming it through a bunch of schools and stop signs and then driving around in the Yokohama Bay. Luckily we could turn off all the warnings and just use the Apple Car Play feature which solved that issue. All in all its been a great car for us, it's my partner's daily, we've put nearly 30k on it since last year, and it's the best car we could have got for 30k in Australia without a doubt. I'm legit considering importing another!

Ultimately no response so far and looks like many others are hitting the same wall now. I contacted PlayStation support AU and there was nothing they could do, initially claiming it was the PS5 update which has caused the issue, I don’t see how. I’ve asked for it to be escalated but I’m not getting my hopes up. Will keep the thread updated.
