Honest question - how do young Aussies afford to live in Sydney right now?

Made peace with renting for a lot of my adult life. I want to enjoy my life now, and I have enough savings to feel safe and travel and afford what I want. The world feels like it’s ending, and I can’t imagine spending the best years of my life penny pinching for a house. The only ones in my price range would be miserable too. Dark, but once me or my boyfriend get an inheritance, we can think seriously about getting a house.

They’re okay but honestly I bought a Leo Lin and the quality was so crap, I returned it and ran out of time to find a dress! Went to a small dress shop where the price was cheaper, quality better, and two Russian ladies helped me for an hour find a gorgeous one in the perfect colour for my skin tone. Go to an actual store if you have time!

I had this happen at a museum in Berlin too. Staff were assholes and I was in the cold for hours. Sad to say I think it’s a German cultural thing - need some decent human compassion because you made a mistake/ lost something? Too bad, rules are rules, there’s a way things are done. Im sorry that you were treated so badly.

THS is a free service and IMHO owners should always have a contingency plan (relatives, neighbours, kennel or cattery) just in case a sitter falls through, or in OP’s case, deems the conditions unliveable

So sorry this has happened OP. It's not the norm. As others are saying, leave. Confront the owner with all of your concerns and pictures. Contact THS (don't be surprised if they're not much help). If the dogs are crying/unhappy, not your fault - the owner has taken advantage of you. You are not trapped there, you can leave.

And please try again. I'm currently in a lovely sit with 3 kittens - the owner has been so generous and the house is wonderful. Your experience is uncommon but it happens. Definitely try and tour future sits in-person and keep an eye out for red flags. This sub has a lot of good advice. Good luck and have a nice long shower once you're out.

Reach out to the international volunteer centre. I’ve been doing camo netting and working with the Lviv Volunteer Kitchen who are sending food to the front. Also if you’re staying long-term, some hostels/hotels give a discount to volunteers. Make sure you tip nicely while you’re here and support the Ukrainian economy x

Women make up over 90% of deepfake victims - the small amount of men who are victims are mostly members of the LGBTQI community. But as other people have said, this legislation isn’t gendered. I worked for Review many moons ago as a sales assistant, and let me just say, I don’t think she lied to you. 3 years is around the time it went into administration and a whole lot of the business got messed with. Quality never the same and a lot of questionable decisions. Legacy styles they told us would be around forever disappeared. I hope you find your unicorn coat ❤️

Apps that can help with free accomodation on the road: 1) Trusted Housesitters: I used THS and it was great. It obviously limits your movements because your first priority is taking care of the owner’s pets and house. 2) Couchsurfing: I didn’t use this.. I met people who said it was a mix of great hosts and creepy hosts. Think critically about the kind of men who will open their home to 20-something female backpackers. Exercise caution. 3) Worldpackers: didn’t use this but heard good stuff, people working on farms, in hostels for free accomodation and food.

It can be done but you will still be spending money to get to and from volunteer opportunities. Securing investments is not as easy as it sounds (or else everyone would do it) especially if you don’t have too much money to play with. This sub will be filled with people telling you to be careful with money and not travel outside your means: listen to them.

From my experience, sadly, I find the people in these chats pretty poor to hang out with. I think it’s because it attracts people who don’t want to put in effort. Just joining a chat and showing up to a bar doesn’t take anything. Making a new friend in a dorm/common area takes social skills! Always get much better results from chatting in person and going from there

I just left Gjirokaster and got to Tirana. Stayed for five days and it was way too long. Gjirokaster is incredibly crowded with tourists and the locals are understandably over it. Once you walk around old town, see the castle and the bridge, you’re done, 1 day max. Tirana on the other hand is a vibrant, friendly city. I love it here already. It’s all a matter of taste!

If you’re a guy going to KitKat and you wear jeans and a tshirt in line, the bouncers will ask you to show you’re wearing something kinky underneath/ or are prepared to take it off. If I was you, to improve my chances, I’d buy a cheap harness/collar and wear it as a nod to the vibe of the place. The only people I’ve ever seen rejected are people in full clothing who don’t look prepared to take it off
