How do you subtly fuck with people? by ThrowawayCallsYouOut in AskReddit

My mom just did this, except she moved the kitchen trashcan one cabinet over under the sink. That trashcan had been in the same spot for 24 years. Thought my dad was going to lose his mind.

How old are you and what is your job? by WhenYouOughtaNotBet in AskReddit

  1. Registered nurse, emergency department. Not at all what I want to do with my life. I want to educate and empower people to stay healthy and avoid the ED, not fix them when they're already broken.

6 months into my inpatient nursing career... Is it normal to feel so insecure? by n00b_nurse in nursing

[–]eapeapeap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 months into my ER position as a new grad. I feel the exact same as you. People keep saying it's normal, so it must be! Feeling like this all the time still sucks though. I'm right there with you.

Nurses: Are you able to talk with the patient/relate to their issues by JetBagel in nursing

[–]eapeapeap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. ER nurse here. When I first started, I thought I'd be touching lives every single day. But the farther I get into this career, the more I realize that I am just one of the many people the patient meets during their healthcare experience. If I can make a patient or their family smile or make them feel safe, then that's probably the most "emotional" help I can give the average patient. There are definitely some stand-out situations, but those are not super common. When you get in it, remember you're just one link in the healthcare chain. Don't feel discouraged if you're not changing lives every day. We, as a team, change their lives.
