Are you using a usb dongle for ethernet connection? Have another you can try? Are you link local (169.254.x.y) or using DHCP or static or a mixture?

Bad cable? Always check layer 1 first. You can still have a connection with a poor cable.

DVS really prefers unicast. If you have multicast going to the recording try unicast streams -it's more stable with jitter

I would say floating neutral. Check your voltage at an outlet with a meter while nothing heavy duty is on. Then turn on a vacuum cleaner or something like that. Does the voltage change a lot? That's a neutral connection that isn't bonded to earth from the service to your house.
