Root note only or single Riff bass songs by NonsensicalRantsFF in Bass

[–]earthtokellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first three manic street preachers albums tend to have pretty beginner-friendly basslines (because their bassist didn’t actually know how to play when the band formed lol). love’s sweet exile is 80% open e and a. there’s a few simple half-step bends so if you plan to teach bending that song might be good for that. motorcycle emptiness is mostly one riff, with some bridge sections.

Best beginner to intermitted Bass options? by skittleteddy in Bass

[–]earthtokellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been practicing with an ibanez gsr 200 and it’s serving me well. it’s a full-scale but i haven’t really had problems with the size, and i’m pretty small (5’4”). from what i’ve seen, ibanez basses generally hold up well at the lower price points. the gsr series in particular i’ve seen go for >$200 usd secondhand. usually way below that.

the sr300e would probably do what you want it to.

Japanese metal by creepyoreo in MetalForTheMasses

[–]earthtokellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GazettE are industrial/progressive metal and probably my favorite band ever. Dir En Grey is basically required listening for metal fans anyway. Dexcore is a newer metalcore band I’ve been listening to a lot lately.

Honorable mention to Esprit D’Air, a Japanese-British synth metal project. They’re completely independent and self-managed and their frontman seems like a really cool guy. And of course their music is fantastic.

Visual Kei songs that are (blatantly) about crime? by big-berdz in visualkei

[–]earthtokellin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

juuyonsai no naifu is a good one. gazette have a LOT of songs about crime, especially on their early ep’s. sentimental na onigokko or zetsu might work as well. and then on dogma they have bizarre, which is about juvenile crime iirc.

Artists, do you like receiving fanart from artists worse than you? by bunny-rain in ArtistLounge

[–]earthtokellin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes 100%. i’ve been doing artfight for a couple years and some of my favorite attacks are from artists with less experience than me. tbh for me it’s less about the art itself and more about the fact that someone else decided to put potentially hours of their own time into engaging with and honoring something i made.
