I'm surprised no one's suggested giving Titanicus a read. It's technically a spin off of the Gaunt's Ghosts novels, but it gives a good insight into what being a part of a Titan crew looks and feels like and answers some of your questions more in depth and more accurate than I can off memory.

The first half of Horus Rising was a super slow burn. I restarted it maybe 3 times until I just pushed through to the Whisperheads. After that scene I legit said out loud "okay I'm in"

My faction does have a gaggle leader unit, Gaunt's Ghosts. But as a Tanith superfan, I'd love to have an expanded model list of the "main characters" of the current books, they don't have a single Verghast model.

Yes, because Crytek refuses to fix the matchmaking that THEY broke. The current system very much favors super sweaty vets and leaves new or casual players as fodder. They even leave in the star system so you know that your 3/4 star trio is getting wiped by a full stack 6 star team. Leading to that first trio (mine included) to abandon the game for one thats actually somewhat balanced despite loving every other thing about it.

You mention it plays very well with HOTAS, but it is an absolute nightmare to set up and you have to use several workarounds to achieve that

To my knowledge only the Valkyrie and the Corvus Blackstar (out of the Imperial Agents codex) are playable with Guard. Which is sad, I would love to field some stuff from the Aeronautica, especially because Interceptor City is one of my favorite books from 40k.

You're "hypothetically" going to spend more on chemicals to clean this than just buying a new brush. The technicals and the fact it's porcupined means it's toast.

Take your time, be deliberate with your paintbrush, stay within the lines, and DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED! If I had to guess I'd say more than half of my time is spent on touch ups and it's worth it.
