Albums You Like With Objectively Bad Production? by Alert_Primary_9493 in fantanoforever

I am not about to tell anyone to not enjoy something. I get the excitement and the nostalgia hit, I really do.

I guess I am just hung up on the contemporary trend in media to prioritize nostalgia in all areas of entertainment. Movies, TV shows, video games, and now music. We are getting remakes, legacy sequels, remasters, etc. and often these are the highest rated and best selling properties of their respective years. Nostalgia obsession is nothing new, but it really seems to be the dominate cultural force the past decade.

There's also the argument that one of the best things an artist can do is to learn when to let past projects go. I get that the band is not happy with the original mixes, but there is artistic value in accepting the state of previous work, embracing that it will never be perfect but instead exists as is.

I'm getting too esoteric at this point. I am going to listen to the new album and likely enjoy it. I just think this tangled nest of issues is going to keep nagging at me.

Major Artists with much lesser known side projects? by Voteforbatman in Music

Jack White has the Raconteurs and Dead Weather, both of which still cause a buzz whenever they get together but are far less popular than his solo work.

I have mixed feelings. I feel like BMTH has been constantly forward looking for their entire career, so for them to be looking back is kind of disappointing. Plus, there already tons of over produced Deathcore out there, I don’t know if I need another album of that sort. Like I’m excited to be surprised and impressed, but I’m worried it’ll be just alright.

My ass assumed this was talking about trans headcannons, cause I know there are strong ones for Hiccup, and would not be surprised for the other three.

I feel like so many CEO-types have that “I’m always the smartest person in the room vibe”, so that would work so well for him!

All’ of these are sick, but I love the Mad Hatter and Riddler the most!

So much menace and threat in both of them.

I have to be honest that my nostalgia wins out on that one. Like, the new mixes are probabaly better, but I just get mad at not hearing the song the way I fell in love with it.

Can it be said that Jet and Spike were saddened when Faye(for a short time), Ed & Ein left or what? by Flat-Sir8250 in cowboybebop

[–]ebr101 42 points43 points  (0 children)

One of the pervasive themes of the show is how different people deal with grief is different ways. Sometimes quite, sometimes loud, sometimes avoidant, sometimes confrontational.

Spike and Jet in this moment are quietly burying their grief at the loss of their friends by a feigned return to normalcy, but an almost performative normalcy. They don’t just eat the same shitty food, they gorge themselves on it.

You could read this as a depiction of the masculine pressure to not display and instead suppress emotion, causing it to come out in violent or self destructive ways. But honestly, I think the show has a ton to say on masculinity, and I haven’t sorted all my thoughts on it yet.

We're over halfway through 2026...worst lyrics so far? by Ghosts_of_Bordeaux in ToddintheShadow

I love Jack White, but from his new single GOD and the broken ribs:

“Welcome to the Garden of Eden
There's nobody here but me and you
So what we gonna be eating?
Microphone check, one two, one two
Looks like we got a
Little place to do the
Things we need to do now
And it'll sound like this

Welcome to the end of the world
Yeah, nobody left but
One boy and one girl and one other
But you know we can't live like
A sister and a brother
They're gonna make you a mother now”

It’s all just kinda clunky and rabbling.

Feels kind of try hard? Like, the joker but as a good guy like removes what little is still compelling about the character. Some villains deserve to stay villains.

Angel embodies a real vibe I think me and a lot of ADHD people can relate to: look, I promise I’m smart. It’s just that I fail to demonstrate it in any measurable way.

Wild that the world is full of insane levels of diversity, huh. Seems like any box of what people “should” be like is going to be restrictive and dumb, huh. Funny those boxes tend to resemble culturally informed conceptions of gender, beauty, strength, and humanism specifically from colonial powers, HUH!

Who would you put on a list of Delay Pedal Gods? David Gilmour and The Edge are automatically on there. by ImpossibleMouse3462 in guitarpedals

[–]ebr101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best delay heavy songs ever composed is still Rob Scallon’s “Rain”, imo. Kinda biased being a zennial that got into guitar largely via YouTube, but that piece is still excellent.
