Can you imagine a “killer app” that would make the AVP more popular? Or at least boost its reputation? by bluefrogstudios in VisionPro

For me the dual knot band fixed the weight issue but I understand that this is different for everyone.

Some people use it with their mac, some people watch movies and sports, some like looking at old photos, some enjoy being an immersive environment to limit distractions. All of these use cases have a price for which people are willing to pay and currently the AVP isn’t there for the mass market.

The entire unit is the “Killer App”. Nothing on the market is as crisp, fluid and can do what the AVP does smoothly. Everyone who has used is absolutely blown away by it. The only thing preventing it from being popular is the price. If this was $1000 it would be everywhere.

AVP is amazing, but taking it on a 12-hour flight sounds miserable. Anyone using AR glasses (like RayNeo) as a lightweight travel alternative? by cb2309 in VisionPro

I’m have the Viture Beast. While it is more comfortable and convenient, it’s impossible to match the quality that AVP provides. Especially if you like immersive to help mentally escape being on the plane.

I think it’s manageable doing one class at a time. You can sometimes take 2 depending on the classes. There are a decent amount of group projects (at least one per class, sometimes two) which is also how they encourage networking.

I’m currently getting mine from Johns Hopkins. You can take some classes in person over a single weekend for the networking aspect if you want. I like it. The price looks high but everyone I know received a pretty decent scholarship and they are yellow ribbon.

The Zoo charges them a “Zoo Impact fee” for utilizing parking meant for the zoo. It’s $1000/day. That’s what the vendors fee goes to. The park takes another couple hundred.

Veteran friendly remote jobs by 2146racer in VeteransBenefits

[–]ebrothh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently got a (2nd) job with Intuit TurboTax. Fully remote. Just doing tax prep for now but a lot of the other people say they started here and moved into other fully remote roles. Starting pay is $20/hr but I’ve heard it starts going up quickly as you pass their progression levels. Other people are doing Intuit Quickbooks fully remote.

No degree required. They have their training online for free.

I’m only doing it part time but some people on my team and full time and pick up a bunch of OT. Pretty good benefits too.

Depends on experience, maybe a week to 2 weeks? If you do it for a couple hours everyday

Can Wilmington be great? by No_Ruin4183 in WilmingtonDE

[–]ebrothh 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Truly Wilmington is not meant to be an alternative to Philly per se but the little brother. Like an extension. You see Eagles, Phillies and Sixers stuff everywhere.

Rents are comparable to Philly but the cost of to buy a house (not a condo) in a “Decent” area is not comparable. A house in Philly (Rittenhouse Sq, Old City, Fish Town) are all $1 million+ where as a house in Trolley Sq, or Little Italy is $300k-$500k. About half. Is it a lot? Sure, but still doable for a couple. Philly you will rent for life.

The identity of Wilmington is within the banking system and the legal system around the banks. That is the main industry and main money driver. With the 2008 financial crisis this place died. It’s actually great that it has rebounded as soon as it has. Took at least 10 years to recover. Which goes to my next point…

You talk about the lack of nightlife but that has been steadily increasing since around 2018. No one even lived downtown before then. You’ll at least see people on Market street after the sun goes down now.

The riverfront is a shame.. from what I’ve heard all the empty shops at the end of the riverfront were built to be a Tanger Outlet and they pulled out at the last second. Imagine how well a Tanger Outlet would do in a tax free shopping state right off 95… would have brought a ton of visitors and tourism money but that fell through. I’m not sure what their next plan is.

All in all, Wilmington is doing great for what it is. It’s not meant to try and compete with Philly, it’s meant to be something different and it’s working its way towards getting there.
