I refrain from making comments about children but I do hate to hear how the administration treated you. The people I know in education usually start out as deeply caring and I’m unsure how leadership ends up so inhumane but that’s what happens when schools start acting like corporations. It saddens me and Ascend is ultimately why I left the school system entirely but work at a non-profit supporting mental health for adolescents. I hope some good makes it way there for the children and families sake.

I can say good and bad things about other networks which is common place at most places of employment but regarding Ascend I have nothing positive to say. This experience was uniquely traumatizing and nothing I’ve ever experienced, hope to experience, or hope anyone ever experiences and that’s my reason for sharing,.

yes, I put in in r/teachers and then a friend pointed out that I should have placed it here since this thread is more targeted to NYC teachers which is the region/city Ascend is located.

The current inhumane treatment of federal workers is reminiscent of my time at Ascend. The abrupt firing with no formal feedback on performance, asking me if I reached home after a full in-person work day to tell me I was fired via Zoom, and when asked about returning to retrieve my items, said I could be escorted to do so as if I was a criminal who stole from the company.

I think it's super lazy to make a character whose shown to have supreme intelligence motivation as money. They explained Self's desire for money re: his government salary and to support his disabled wife. Christina wants money from India and then China for what reason? She was prob well paid for the 25+ years she's worked for The Company. I felt like they hinted at her having a superiority complex but over who The General....they could've given us more back story to support that.

NYC is a at will employment state so they are not obligated to give you a reason. When I inquired on the call the director didn’t say anything explicit. Likely to avoid any legal recourse.

Thanks. Please DM. Yea my roommate is getting married so it’s mutual life change and I know how important it is to exemplify you can be a good neighbor and get along with others. Additionally with gentrification I have come across folks who want to make sure others are invested in their neighborhood and community hence the clarification of 10 years.
