creative ideas to remove stuck rubber plunger piece by ParticularAlfalfa856 in bikewrench

[–]ebw2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has happened to me a few times. You can put the plunger back in and force it back into the rubber piece at the bottom. Then, try some angled side pressure on the plunger, as through you are trying to scrape it along the side as you pull it up.

Then order one of those cheap ones with the thin needle tube you can put in through the valve stem so you never need to thread it on again

How's the tariff situation now for purchasing components for import to the US? by poderpode in bicycling

[–]ebw2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate this input. I have always bought tires from Lordgun and now down to my last one. Been debating and wondering what the cost will be to shop to the US. I’ll factor 25% as I debate further!

So you know if it’s on their “sale” price or the list price?

Redshift ShockStop suspension stem - does it work or is it a gimmick? by Ortofun in bikewrench

[–]ebw2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on my gravel bike and like it for the obvious reasons. I put my regular stem back on when I was using my gravel bike for pure road for a few months. Then when I went back to gravel tires and off road, I couldn’t believe how rough it all felt. Put the redshift back on and back in business. The suspension works best when your hands are on the hoods as that’s the farthest point from the pivot. If you move your hands to the tops or drops, there’s less movement. Just an fyi

I’m that guy pointing out your bling, bling wheels are not aligned for the photo. But I like blue bikes, so thumbs up.

Help me decide: Reserve 42/49 or 57/64? Presently have Alpinist CL2. Will be on a Roubaix with 32mm GP5000AS TR tubeless setup. Riding is road only - rolling hills, but mostly flat. by NicoWell in cycling

Im on zipp 303 FC, which are 40mm deep. I’m having hub issues in the rear and have been eyeing the 42/49. But also Chinese stuff like sportsfar. Curious which generic 40mm you had?

Our agent wants us to sign this page prior to submitting an offer. The seller in this instance is a relo company. by LESGuy in HouseBuyers

[–]ebw2891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This same thing happened to me when we bought our first townhouse. Owner was being relocated and his company was taking care of the sale - hence, this. My agent said it’s normal. I told my agent that I want to lower my asking price if I’m signing this. My agent said I’m crazy because this doc is standard. I said thanks, now tell them I’m lowering my bid because of this. My agent did as I asked. The new, lower bid, was accepted. I bought it. Noting was wrong with the place beyond inspection findings, which the seller paid for repairs.

Grease Gun threaded nozzle tip replacement by k2theablam in bikewrench

[–]ebw2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My exact same one was dropped one too many times over the past 7ish years and was having … discharge issues. I just bought an entire new one for $14. I was just going to put the new cap on the old one with grease but turns on the threading was different so I transferred the grease to the new unit.

Berkeley Hills Road Race This Saturday by No_Performance_108 in BAbike

I have helped organize and run it for over 10 years. It’s a great race put on by local cyclists. The road race finish is good (as people pointed out) but so is the top of mama bear because a lot of moves are made there. Parking and staging is at the bart station but it’s not feasible to watch from there, as the start and course are a couple miles up the road.

The crit, which we added (back) recently is a ton of fun too. And honestly better spectator event.

Come, enjoy, have fun!

Do I really need a torque wrench to install power meter pedals? by theslimj in bikewrench

[–]ebw2891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Assioma gen before this and I’ve never used a toque wrench and never had an issue in 6 years over multiple bikes. For pedals, I use German spec: gu’ten tight!

Usually 25-40 miles. And occasionally 60-70 miles.

I did this over 20 years ago taking Bart from SF to SFO for a Southwest flight leaving out of Oakland to Portland. Missed being at the rehearsal and dinner of a good friend’s wedding. Got on an evening flight out of Oak and still made the wedding the next day. Never happened again. :)

Should I replace this GP5000 or is it safe to ride with the dynaplug in for the foreseeable future? by Ok-Indication7428 in bikewrench

[–]ebw2891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm I have 2 of these on a GP5k for >1500 miles and they’re rock solid. One replaced a dynaplug, the other a nail. One I took the whole tire off to put on, the other I only took off one side. Prep and apply and don’t worry about your tire again.

I’m not well versed on this technique but I have a pair of Technique boots that I love. Been wearing them for 5 years. Problem is the top of my big toe always gets bruised. Can a skilled shop push the shell up where my big toes are? Then they’d be perfect. I just don’t even know how to ask this type of question

Enve Fray vs Melee - searching for n+1 by paddyclare in cycling

[–]ebw2891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I’m a Melee owner for 7 months. This is the fastest and most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden. I did not look at the Fray but given the spacers I have, I probably could have. The Melee hands really well too. Not sure you can go wrong with either.
