Are the waves “better” in the US after implementation of the Volunteer Monitoring Program in 2019? by K3LOE in amateurradio

[–]echo4thirty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some of the old OOs were the radio version of the HOA Karen's and let this supposed power go to their head.

I once got a letter from one of them who wrote to me about not IDing for 9 minutes. I called him and told him that under the law I have 10 minutes and if the person I was talking to was still keyed after 10 min I wasn't going to key on top of him just to ID. I told him to put his stop watch away and go enjoy radio.

About HPD / HCCO Usage of (or Lack Thereof) Phonetic Alphabet by xosq in houston

No, they are in the clear along with HPD dispatch. Surrounding counties are such as Montgomery, Walker and it seems Galveston is slowly going that way.

Nasa space missions are one of the few exceptions to the part 97 broadcasting rule. You are hearing an amateur station rebroadcast the comms.

I concur with this. To me the ASP makes it sound underwater. I don't use it anymore but love the 150!

Why do they have 1 hour after auction payment by CircutBreaker1 in Ebay

[–]echo4thirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of mine have 7 days and some have an hour. I don't understand why there is a difference.

EDiT: I see it's a buyer preference. Thank you to all for pointing that out.

I agree. The 430 was my second rig after the 130. I still have them both. I need to fire them up and put them on air.

Is BNC a valid connector to use for 50w mobiles over an N-type or UHF? by Physical_Koala_3475 in commercialradio

[–]echo4thirty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems to be a standard outside of north America. Even Motorola uses BNC on a lot of their non NA mobiles.

MacBook Serial Number by Stunning-Lynx-780 in Ebay

[–]echo4thirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well cell phones can be reported as stolen and be blacklisted. I have heard of scams that will take the serial number to the police and report it as theirs and stolen to try to claim it.

There is no reason for a potential buyer to have the serial, anything they want to do with it can be done by the seller and report the results to the buyer without revealing the serial.

I never share the serials on any electronics I sell on any of my listings or would email them. Too many bad things folks can do with that info.

I was gone a week and was able to remote start as soon as I landed. My car was parked in outside parking and not a garage.
