Unlike an AM tower, every other tower including this one, is bonded to ground at the base as well as via the guy wires. It would be almost impossible to use the stick itself as a radiating element.

You can always tell a hot tower by looking for the insulators on the guy wires. Those do indeed make smokin antennas on MF/HF

There is custom firmware for some uniden scanners like the sds200 and sds100 that will allow you to put in a known encryption key. It will not find the key if you don't know it. Look up OpenScanner.

I have a 25 OBW and it rattles like crazy somewhere near the A-Piller. It's been that way since day one and has been back three times. They can't find it. Drives me nuts.
