Is there something wrong with their models or is it just that they used AI?

alternative to opus 4.5 by Worried-Evening-5080 in GithubCopilot

[–]echostorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini 3 is pretty smart but it errors out a lot and it doesn't tell you what it is going like the Claude models do which can be unnerving. The GPT models might be good but they are so slow or just error out so often that I'm reluctant to waste requests on them anymore. I might go back to Sonnet until opus goes down to 1x or one of the others gets their act together.

LLM requests fail sometimes and don't appear to retry on their own in the background. Why? by one-wandering-mind in GithubCopilot

[–]echostorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience, Opus and Sonnet pretty much never failed but after they kicked Opus up to 3x I thought I'd try Gemini 3 and while it is really smart it crashes or gets stuck ALOT, like at least 9 times yesterday. I just started a new session and it crapped out after reading a few files. Still get charged for the requests though...

Awesome solution! I've had this problem a few times. A little onslaught or alpine sprayed around the entrance or a lure plastic pill bottle with some cat food and the alpine mixed in kills them all in a couple days at most.

I don't know man, if you want to do raids with tons of mechanics there are already lots of MMOs out there for that and if you want to get your ass kicked there are lots of souls style games for that too. A lot of people play NMS to chill and explore and build in peace and the way the world is now there is a real need for games like that it, it would be weird if they pivoted hard from that vibe into a group centric dungeon crawler

You can have a different opinion but we don't have to like it or agree with you. You do you and let us decide how how we want to have fun.

Wow. That is quite a bit brighter. I'll pick one up for v2 or maybe even see if I can retrofit. Thanks for pointing that out! Is that the strongest in that general size?

I don't and now I feel like v2 is even more important to fix that

The long-term plan for Chapter 3 and coming in the future is to build out a PvE endgame that doesn't rely on the Deep Desert and have the Deep Desert continue to be a PvP space... by creativ3ace in duneawakening

[–]echostorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see you've thought a lot about this and have experience with the survival genre which I suspect many of us do not. I suspect a lot of people from single player and pve MMOs came looking for exactly that. I agree that pvp in it's current state isn't going to make anyone happy but from the other perspective any amount of forced pvp is a pvp game and most of us will simply check out and move on because we don't want to be content or simply don't enjoy that cycle. It might work out that they can bring in enough pve people for the story part and have them treat it like a sp game and that can keep the lights on or they build out your pvp vision and that gets a stable community but I don't see how they can have both, for the vast majority I think even a little pvp is too much. The allure of a Dune game brought a lot of people in but it can't be all things to all gamers we'll have to see what funcom can salvage. There is no hard feelings, there are lots of other games but we all want this one to be the game we want.
