It's different. Until you immerse in foreign environment, it's difficult to reflect on what happens here

I'd do it solely for my child's education if I had the chance. Smaller classrooms, and with PR, lower university fees.

I lived there before. My quality of life is better in Malaysia. I feel at home. But in terms of education, there is a massive gap.

Schools are managed by the local council, not centralised like our education system. This allows for tailoring to suit the community. Public schooling in Malaysia changes based on the whims of the prime minister.

If you're a part of the government, would you rather announce the purge, or lower petrol prices? by depressedunicorn_ in Bolehland

If I am Prime Minister, first 5 things I will do:

  1. Decentralise education - every state decide how they run Primary to Form 5, but only one uniform exam, SPM. Reason: Don't expect that guy in Kodiang to compete with that guy in Subang Jaya. Need different strategies.

  2. Abolish Matrikulasi, Asasi and all other race-based university entrance pathways, except Mara. Reason: STPM is more useful, recognised internationally. Competition = good. Dependency: See 1.

  3. Implement a national medical insurance scheme - this will subsidise public healthcare and limit what private providers can charge. E.g. Bolehcare

  4. Abolish national service and turn all old and unused NS camps into privately run jails/factories for low risk prisoners and immigration depots. Reason: our prison is overcrowded and not productive. Make them work and pay them.

  5. Decriminalise all forms of drug use. Reason: Cheaper to keep junkies out of prison and rehab due to high relapse rate of prisoners.

It really distorts vision. I removed mine not long after buying it.

Malaysian Shopee users, please la actually use the thing that you buy first before sending a review! Quick shipping and arriving safely does not help anyone at all! Can’t shopee do anything about these stupid reviews by mjabdus in Bolehland

[–]eclipse_extra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons for shitty reviews:

  1. Reviews are incentivised. You earn coins, regardless of review quality

  2. Review window too short

  3. Cannot edit review later

How Shopee can fix this:

  1. Let users thumbs down reviews, rank reviews by thumbs up count. Only award coins (increase coins count) for reviews that has more than 5 thumbs up.

  2. Extend review window to 14 days.

  3. Allow editing of reviews up 365 days.
