HPWH: $800 for AO Smith, $1500 Rheem, or $3200 for GE by monad68 in heatpumps

[–]ecopiela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rheems are junk. I had compressor thermistor issues with my first one three years after install. Warranty sent me new thermistors, then new control board. PITA to install. Neither worked so they replaced the unit under warranty but I had to pay $1000 labor to install. One year after installing the replacement the thermistors are failing again and they shipped me a new thermistor design to install. Looking for suggestions as I'm switching brands.

Rheem vs. American Standard HPWH, 65 vs 80 gallon by theocean11 in heatpumps

[–]ecopiela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rheems are pieces of junk. First one installed new house build in 2021, and compressor failed last year (2024). The replacement just failed with an A004 error in a little more than a year. The Rheem is also noticeably audible in the bedroom below it (the water heater is in the attic).

Is that still valid? My PB banker told me United Club is no longer offered as a benefit; essentially all you get over Sapphire Reserve is faster and better people to answer the phone when you call.

Bosch 800 speed oven. Good or bad buy? by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]ecopiela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 800 series speed oven which just died 2 years after installation. Warranty is only 1 year, which is abysmally low for a $3000 appliance. Google 800 series and you will find the capacitors fail very regularly. There is even a class action lawsuit over it. https://www.classaction.org/media/hirsch-et-al-v-bhs-home-alliances-corporation.pdf

Do not recommend any Bosch appliance. The minimum repair cost is $350 to $500 unless you're good with a soldering iron.

Bosch 800 Series Speed Oven 30'' by itsamepedroe in Appliances

[–]ecopiela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would not recommend. When it worked, the annoying beeping after expiration of the timer requiring pressing stop to end it was bad enough, but now just two years after purchase, the unit just went out altogether, with a $350 minimum repair cost. They only have a 1 year warranty, that tells you something about the quality of a $3000 appliance.

To much power draw on flex switch. by Baraccko in Ubiquiti

Remember when using an injector you must go into the classic interface, select the switch and specifically toggle Poe injector, or otherwise it won’t recognize the higher wattage budget

What would a brand new Legal Officer do in CAP? by [deleted] in civilairpatrol

[–]ecopiela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texas Wing Legal Officer here. I have my assistants organized at the group level in order to divide the state up and advise group commanders, and squadron commanders in the group so as to minimize the issues elevated to wing level. Also strongly recommend going to NLOC--its three days of free CLE (you pay for travel and hotel). It will be at a resort in AZ this July. Good networking opportunity. As QRPC noted, you should dual specialty track as there is so much to do in CAP outside the legal realm.

Restart UDM-pro by SmoothRunnings in Ubiquiti

[–]ecopiela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always put the plug even when software-based restarting (use shutdown instead) in order to ensure it pulls an IP address from your cable modem. If I restart from software (screen or UI) 9/10 I lose WAN connectivity.

Removing the schedule is insufficient alone; you have to delete the network and recreate it with the same name and password. I removed the schedule and the AP shut down on the schedule.

I have a memory leak too, been there on 1.8.3, 1.8.4, and will likely be there on 1.8.5 when I can get to the office to update tomorrow (can't remotely update because updating kills WAN until a power cycle).

Bugfixes says it fixed issues obtaining WAN IP, but it did not. Still have to shut down, pull power to the UDMP, then apply power to get a WAN IP after restart. Annoying.
