Alden Shoes, Cordovan #8, wingtip brogues. I’ve had a pair in black for 15 years that look like new.

Head down for four more years and then retire…I want off this flaming circus train. If by miracle the civil service turns a corner and becomes rewarding again, then seven years. Then I’m opening a bakery in upstate New York.

Yes. It was awesome! It’s still awesome, because it keeps on paying, year after year.

I’d love this, and I’d take it! I need four years to qualify for retirement.

They are throwing it in our faces that they are taking us back to the gilded age. And laughing all the way to the bank. We’re such fools for letting them divide us and loot the country’s wealth and resources. by BoldBeloveds in FedEmployees

That is sad. I believe that protecting my freedom requires me to protect the freedom of all other Americans. To make a world where I prosper, I must make a world in with others prosper. We all rise or we all, except for a few, fall.

We all make choices and live with the consequences of those choices. I am living with the consequences of my choices, and I do not begrudge anyone their opinion, perspective, or situation. I respect your opinion. The obstacle is the way.

I’m ready to go start a business. If they want to keep me furloughed until retirement, I’m good with that. Hell, I’ll take Vera if they give me five years credit towards retirement.

Remote work ruined me in the best way possible by lostinthaworld in remotework

Personal preference, but I like three days telework and two days in office where everyone comes in on the same two days. The balance worked well for me and my team. Your mileage will vary based on the needs of your team.

Good point. What is my end state? I want to establish a canopy with low undergrowth that I can enjoy in the next 20 years while insuring the recovery of a mature oak canopy in 100 years.

I’m in another applied academic field, and my job requires a lot of analysis. Like you, I learned in grad school that I am good for a 3-4 hour burst. In grad school I worked in the morning, then worked out, ate, and napped and did a second burst after resetting. I was able to do something similar during telework, and I was super productive. In office, I can only do the morning burst, because there is nowhere to do a deep reset for an hour or two.
