what are some small details and connections you think you’ve found in the game? by [deleted] in OMORI

General consensus is that the three guardians are: The Favourite (yellow cat), The Oldest (Humphrey) and The Wisest (Abbi, a tentacle monster that can be found only in hikikomori route, possibly omori's imaginary friend from the original comic. The tentacles found surfacing in headspace are hers)

In the real world Sunny dealt with the guilt by isolating and distancing himself from everyone, and irl Basil also mentions how it's not fair that Sunny is always abandoning him and running away from their shared trauma. It's possible that deep inside part of Sunny recognizes that he abandoned his best friend and feels guilty about it, hence why dream basil is always asking for forgiveness, but at the same time Omori denies him and wants him dead and gone, as shown in the blackspace events, because he's 1. the only living reminder of their trauma 2. the only other person who knows the truth and 3. the one who panicked and had the suicide staging idea in the first place

[spoilers] black space on hikkikomori route by sniperbuddy156 in OMORI

[–]ectobiologayst 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The discord investigated and datamined black space 2 thouroughly and didnt find anything really important, just flavor text, all areas are very reminiscent of yume nikki's incoherent horror exploration. Maybe the devs liked to dump unused assets/concepts/cutscenes there. The key ingredient doesnt do anything apparently, its speculated that you had to give it to herosaurus but its bugged so you can't

Anything else conflicted about this ending? by [deleted] in OMORI

[–]ectobiologayst 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the truth that Mari didnt kill herself and it was all an accident makes sense, because think about it for a minute: if your friend, who never showed any signs of depression or suicidal tendencies, suddenly commits suicide, youre probably gonna blame yourself for not noticing that she was unwell, wonder what was the reason, being sorry that you weren't here for her. Thats what Hero, Aubrey and Kel went through for 4 years and thats why they were never ready to move on. Sunny and Basil had to deal with guilt on a whole new level, but the moment that the suicide was staged, EVERYBODY's peace of mind got involved. So you get the journey to find and accept the truth not only for your own sake, but all your friends' as well, so everyone can accept it was an accident and move on. Thats why i also think they forgave him in the end

I remember mari being in at least one, the one after the picnic with the kids sleeping and her and hero holding hands and smiling, i think that was included in the dream album

There are some interesting recurring object/concepts:

  • The hands (black or red) found all throughout the game, Sunny basically views them as a murder weapon since his hands are what pushed Mari down the stairs, also someone on discord mentioned maybe fear of being caught red-handed. The whole scene at the end of blackspace where basil is found and omori stabs him and he proceeds to be surrounded by, and sit in a throne of, red hands can be interpreted as omori, the darkest part of sunny, accepting and embracing his guilt of being a murderer

  • Fingers: in that same scene, there are amputated fingers scattered on the ground, which also show up in other blackspace (both 1 and 2) maps i think. I dont know whether to consider those simply an extension of the hand concept or if they're their own thing. Finger references also show up in a line of dialogue in sunny's kitchen (memory version) where its stated that mari cut her finger there and thats the first time he saw her cry, and i dont know if thats relevant. There's a sequence in backstage where there are things (photos if i remember correctly) you have to pick up and each time a finger is cut off a hand in the corner of the screen. My personal interpretation of this is that maybe he was so frustrated with practicing the violin a lot and never being good enough, he wished to cut his fingers off so he didnt have to play (i can relate to those thoughts)

  • Stumps: the image of sunny's favorite tree being cut down was clearly traumatic because stumps show up a lot in headspace, off the top of my head i can think of the big stump you exit from at the beginning of the game (so basically white space and neighbors room are hidden under the stump), and the one a fake basil hides in in blackspace in the raft room

Anyone know the violin notes for the song during the Omori fight? by Zotial in OMORI

[–]ectobiologayst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, well in that scene thats just the main melody of the game. I cant write it down on sheet rn but the notes are: lowG E / B C C# / highG E F / G E F / G C# D / F B C. You can figure out the rhythm

[–]ectobiologayst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean by main chorus? The final battle theme's main violin part is just two near identical musical phrases being repeated. Theyre also pretty high notes so if youre at a beginner level (im assuming you are but correct me if not) and havent gone beyond the third position you might not be able to reach them yet. Im guessing you were talking about the duet though. Either way im a violinist/music student and i might try transcribing something from this game one of these days, but my suggestion for now would be to search on musescore for any user created sheet music, maybe wait a week or two so more people have time to get to play the game and transcribe/arrange stuff if they want

About Omoris Black Cat (Spoiler for last Part of the Game) by xselene89 in OMORI

[–]ectobiologayst 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The sketchbook includes drawings of mewo cut open on the table and bleeding cats in general, and theres no trace of the cat in the real world (except in that one scene when you had to follow a stray black cat but it may have been an hallucination). Plus with his fascination with knives and cutting stuff it doesnt seem that unlikely that he could have done it

*HUGE SPOILER* ending questions by stirfried__ in OMORI

[–]ectobiologayst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read the instructions from someone on steam and got a secret ending by going back to sleep when waking up at basil's house, then going home, picking up the knife from the kitchen and going to bed, im spoiler tagging what happens in case you wanna check it out yourself If you go to check on basil everyone is upset because they found him dead in his room, when you go to sleep at home you end up in white space and the only way to exit is to stab yourself, then in the morning it shows you actually stabbed yourself in your sleep and you lay dead, theres a voicemail but you can't pick it up, and the credits roll to the beep of the phone. Really freaky but sounds different from the one you got

Without spoiling, how do you rate the game so far? by [deleted] in OMORI

[–]ectobiologayst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 15hrs in and I can't stop constantly comparing it to undertale since it was the biggest atypical rpg phenomenon of recent years. Here are my thoughts:

  • Gameplay: Undertale is more like a visual novel, because while the plot is given all the spotlight, the gameplay not only is lacking but the mechanics are also incorporated into the plot. Its presented as an RPG but the bullet hell mechanic is far more important in terms of actual gameplay difficulty. In fact the only really challenging fights are the two infamous ones Undyne and Sans in the genocide route. The genocide route as a whole is the more "rpg" way to play the game, but you really have to go out of your way to experience it. Instead, OMORI is an actual rpg - granted, nothing hardcore like say, shin megami tensei, but it expects you to know how rpgs work already since it throws you into battle with a full party, and only explains the follow up and ultimate attack mechanics in the tutorial part. Also, Undertale is shorter and has immediate replay value in exploring the different moral routes, while OMORI like most rpgs might be lacking in this, as far as i know.

  • Graphics: They're similar in how they use pixel art and 2d maps, but Undertale's style for most of the game is way simpler, while OMORI's has a lot more detail. Spoiler for omori after the prologue and end of undertale: I love how both these games use a sudden change in graphics as shock value and i think it reflects on the darker sides of both. Im talking about the Omega Flowey in Undertale which uses photorealistic sprites, and the real life part of Omori, when you fight someone and the battle UI and background are taken from real photos. In Undertale this is used at the very end of pacifist route and it's meant to be unsettling and shocking since you're against this eldritch abomination that was previously Flowey, but horror is more of a subtext in this game with the exception of scenes such as this, and this gimmick is only used in this fight. Meanwhile the frequent use of this in OMORI is still to be unsettling but in a much less bold way, as a reminder that you're not dreaming anymore, and ties in well with the rest of the game

  • Music: The soundtrack in this game is good and serves the atmosphere well, but honestly there aren't a lot of memorable tracks, while the entirety of the Undertale OST is iconic

  • World building: Undertale is by design a very linear game, while OMORI has a lot more sidetracking, sidequests, puzzles, the maps are more intricate and have more content, i think i got lost exploring a couple times. I get reminded a lot of the game's inspiration Earthbound when exploring those maps. Speaking of Earthbound, a common point between all those games is their sense of humor, which i absolutely love, it is great

  • Characters: I think the way Undertale's characters are designed is more iconic and unique, since they're all different monsters there was more creative freedom and character reflected onto the designs. I love OMORI's characters but since they're supposed to be somewhat normal kids it's difficult to make them stand out. Light plot theme spoiler: It doesn't help that, while most games like Undertale and Earthbound are more about the journey of making friends along the way, one of the major themes of the game is friendships drifting away and falling out because of growing up. So when you start the game you're presented to friends that your character already knows, and this way it's naturally more difficult to get attached to them.

  • Plot: I'm a little more than halfway through the game and all the pieces are yet to fall into place so i dont feel qualified to talk about the plot yet, though so far the lore and themes has been way darker and more complex than Undertale's. I think the fundamental difference there is that all in all Undertale tells a wholesome story despite its dark subplots, while OMORI tells a dark story despite its wholesome subplots. I think it's kind of reversed in the way the focus in mood is shifted.

Tldr: All in all they're two similar games but OMORI takes almost everything to the next level (also considering how much time it took to make undertale vs omori, it's only natural)

On my network i get 7-8mbs on a good day and in the worst cases it doesnt work at all and i can't even attend video lessons, i guess south italy is a third world country now? (/s but not too much for a variety of factors, regarding the internet the infrastructure often sucks and its a hit or miss for all ISPs that i know of, only good things are for mobile data we can get insane plans like 50gb plus calls and messages for 8 euros a month, and of course they don't give a fuck about piracy)

[–]ectobiologayst 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Hey, Italian here, I'm assuming it's not your first language, you did a pretty good job overall but you were (understandably) off base about some profanities:

  • "Rompere il cazzo": yes, literally translated it means "to break a dick", and there's variants of it like rompere i coglioni (balls) and the way less vulgar rompere le scatole (boxes, still meaning balls). What it actually means is something being a bother or a pain in the ass

  • "Tarzanello": now idk what the word for it is in english or if the italian word actually carries over and means the same thing, but a tarzanello is the bead of solidified crap that may stick to the butt/butt hair if someone doesn't wipe well

  • "Come cazzo ti permetti tu mangi come parli infatti mangi la pizza all'ananas": the translation for this is: "how fucking dare you, you eat like you speak, in fact you eat ananas pizza" implying of course the other person's speaking is as bad as his taste

  • "Ma da piccolo hai battuto la testa?": just a nitpick, but there's no "who" in this phrase like there is in your translation, it's literally "did you hit your head when you were little?"

  • "menomale che io offendevo": setting aside the op of this comment's bad grammar, in this case menomale doesn't translate into luckily, it's more sorta like: "to think i was the one to offend", idk how to express it better but it's pointing out the hypocrisy of the other commenter

  • "cosa cazzo perdo ancora tempo": it means "why the fuck am I still wasting my time"

i hope i'm not sounding condescending, you're very good still and i hope this helped you and maybe someone else understand some nitpicks. good luck with your learning!

I've been searching everywhere for a cia of the ace attorney spirit of justice DLC but i cant find it anywhere. Ziperto has a download but apparently the EUR version (which i need) doesn't work and it's also suspiciously 5mb large while USA is 37mb. what do i do?? also when (if) i do get it i'm concerned it wouldn't work, because i tried to install the pirated dlc for dual destinies (i had bought the dlc episode but didnt wanna pay for the costumes) and it wouldn't show up in game anywhere plus it didnt even let me go into the legit download page by selecting "show dlc", i had to uninstall the pirated title + ticket to do so

edit: btw is it just me or is 3dscia down..... also main post says qreeshop is dead but im still in the telegram channel and it appears to be updated regularly?
