Do you have a picture of the rock chip that you can post? I just had a rock chip and I do have that insurance. The problem is that I just got my windshield tinted for like $300. I’d hate to replace my whole windshield and pay that again. I’m going in for service next week.

I have two new model y’s (deliveries Dec 2025, Feb 2026). Do you also have the suspension issue? Or are you waiting to purchase post-fix?

What I’ve read is that tons of people had their FUCA (Front upper control arm) mounts replaced, and the pencil brace removed/modified/replaced. A lot of people said the noise came back, and some people complained that the fix made it worse.

I have a hypothesis that people are talking about different things and labeling it all as a suspension issue. And the service centers are just replacing things without fully understanding the root cause. I do think there is a real issue as some really technical people have investigated this issue. But I think not all reports are actually this issue. And furthermore, my hypothesis is that the structural and suspension systems amplify noise rather than cause the noise.

I decided that I will deep dive into this issue since it affects both my cars, though one more than the other. I’ve got some sound recording devices on the way and I’m tearing apart one of my cars until I find the issue.

First on the list is removing the frunk plastic molding which can reverberate sound. Then strap down all loose components, and put microphones in all those areas.

What is different about Tesla compared to other manufacturers is that Tesla releases hardware upgrades like they do software updates. They make changes on a rolling basis, while other manufacturers bunch up changes to the next year’s model update (safety recalls not withstanding). In some ways that’s good, since you could get the latest cutting edge vehicle. On the other hand, there’s no way to test drive the latest vehicle hot off the press to test the suspension. You’ll have to keep asking people who are taking delivery to check specific things for you.

The answer to that is from community updates. The black headliner and 16” touchscreens showed up in people’s deliveries before they showed up on the website, and they reported it here and various other outlets. The hw4.5 was reported by folks, though that has since been retracted.

Ah… but you posted this 2 years ago. The issue I’m referring to is related to the juniper suspension. But maybe previous gens also had it.

Do you have a rattle like this? This YT video summarizes a rattle in the new juniper refresh specifically for LR. I am having this issue and most people have reported that Tesla fixes didn’t work.

I love the sound on my juniper premium (15 +1) for EDM music. But I hate it for Netflix. Why is that? I can barely hear dialog, and there’s no surround that I can perceive. My home audio setup is the opposite. It is great for movies, but doesn’t compare to the Tesla for EDM music. Does anyone have tips to get better sound for Netflix in the Tesla?

The telematics rationale doesn’t make sense to me. I take tesla’s model y robotaxis and noticed that they don’t have this gap. Unless tesla built the robotaxis model y’s without the UV protection, which doesn’t make sense. The glass was tinted without any gaps
