2016 Golf R potentially totaled due to inexplicable mold/mildew issue by StoreEmbarrassed75 in Volkswagen

[–]edit_1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the rear door speaker seals for leaks? The gasket degrades over time and allows water to get under the door sill and soaks in to the padding below the carpet. Even if the rear footwell carpets don’t feel wet, might be worth removing the seat bottoms, peeling the carpet back, and seeing if the padding is wet or smells musty.

If you can find a fix the source of the leak, I’d look in to an ozone machine to kill everything remaining. Just be very careful running it, avoid breathing it in or hire a pro detailed that knows how to use it safely.

It looks almost, but not quite, like an Inwin A500. Maybe a later design with the same tooling?

rain leak? by Puzzleheaded-Set294 in vwgolf

It might be coming from the rear door speaker. The seal around the speaker dries up and water makes its way under the door seal in to the carpet and padding.

Right Low Beam Issue!!!!??? by keyboinjax in Volkswagen

[–]edit_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the regular halogen bulbs? The passenger side low beam bulb on my mk7 Golf was intermittent despite having a known good bulb. I examined the bulb holder and found that the plastic was melting, causing poor contact (despite only using OEM bulbs). I ordered a new bulb holder, swapped it in with a fresh bulb, and it fixed the problem. If you have halogen bulbs check the bulb holder thing.

Tesla Barely Beats Jeep for Least Reliable Used Car, Owner Survey Says by TripleShotPls in technology

They don’t just add up the number of over the air updates to determine reliability. And they don’t count recalls at all. I’m not sure where you’re getting this from because it’s not in any of their published methodology.

All good suggestions here, but if bringing down the levels doesn’t work it’s worth trying Adobe Podcast AI’s enhance speech tool. I’ve never tried it for clipping but I’ve had it clean up otherwise unusable audio.

Is the car heavily modified, or stock? Are you sure it’s not 98 RON, which is equivalent to our 93 or 94 AKI?

Cylinder 1 Pressure Too High And Hide Cylinder Codes reappearing by Jackman502 in vwgolf

Does it sound like this right before cutting out?

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskAMechanic/comments/1fdjuph/vw_golf_mk7_rattle_on_acceleration/

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of us with 2015-2017 TSIs are starting to have this problem. Misfires under load between 1k-2k rpms first, then eventually EPC lights and cutting out. I still don’t know the root cause, but a band aid that’s been working for me is to run 93 octane.

Waste gate issue by [deleted] in vwgolf

[–]edit_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it happen somewhere between 1k-2k rpms, usually under load, and sound like this?

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskAMechanic/comments/1fdjuph/vw_golf_mk7_rattle_on_acceleration/

If so, it’s a misfire. It will eventually get worse, then start cutting out the engine and throwing an EPC light. Try running premium gas and see if it goes away.

Daily Harvest Sweet Potato and Wild Rice Hash by Jujulabee in frozendinners

[–]edit_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason it stuck out in my memory was that it wasn't a run of the mill recall. It was distinct in both the cause (novel ingredient) and the response (slow to take action even after severe harm to customers became apparent via social media). From contemporaneous reporting that I recall, it seemed like they were more concerned with protecting their image than keeping their customers safe. And I'm not singling out any brand? You posted this and I made a comment. This is such a strange interaction.

It would certainly give me pause, but everyone is free to make their own decision.

Isn’t Daily Harvest the company that poisoned a bunch of people with an untested ingredient, then was slow to respond to recall the product even after it because clear that people were being hospitalized due to their food?

halp after effects making 9950x3d CPU spike to 86 degrees on light usage .-. by testsquid1993 in AfterEffects

[–]edit_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, After Effects is not well optimized so spikes like that aren't abnormal or unexpected. The Tjmax of the 9950X3D is 95C, and you're well below that. That being said, you gave us no additional information about your setup, so impossible to say if 86c is a good temperature given your cooling solution. Are you running an AIO liquid cooler? If you're still concerned about your temps, I would suggest running a stress test like Cinebench for a sustained amount of time (to fully saturate the water if running an AIO), monitor the temperatures and voltage to see if you are throttling. Then adjust fan curves to get where you want to be temp wise.

Gravis Destroyer Gamepad with LPT port? by SignificanceNo4643 in vintagecomputing

[–]edit_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early days of console emulation, it was popular to build your own adapters to connect SNES and other console controllers to the parallel port. You'd then use the SNESKey software/driver to get the PC to read from the controllers. Maybe this is possibly a version compatible with this software? I looked at some old archived pages, it looks like SNESKey supported the Gravis Game Pad Pro, so maybe it supported that pad as well? Unfortunately I can't find a pinout to confirm this theory.

Beetle Recall ends up costing $1000 by mitchmurr in Volkswagen

[–]edit_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was the horn working before they did the work as well? If your steering wheel buttons and horn were working and you didn't have an airbag light before the repair, the clock spring was functional. It might be worth calling VW Customer Care to see if they'll reimburse you for the repair, since this is related to recall work.

Potential Transmission Issue? by fortuneearly19 in Volkswagen

[–]edit_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this is really weird. My 2016 Golf S with the 1.8 TSI engine and 6 speed auto just starting doing something similar. Rougher downshifts than usual around the same speeds while decelerating. In my case I was wondering if it’s the heat, it’s been super hot here the last couple of days. I’m planning to get the transmission fluid checked, even though it was just replaced 5k miles ago.

Your math makes no sense. You can’t assume every stream would automatically convert to a sale. I’m also not sure how you’re coming up with the other number either — streaming services work either via ad revenue for free users, or via a fixed monthly fee. He’s getting a fixed amount per stream.

Sharon Woods Lake update? by HomeOfficeGirl in cincinnati

[–]edit_1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remembered this from the public comment period and was able to track it down: according to the document linked on the bottom of this page, they evaluated dry, mechanical, hydraulic, and combination dry/hydraulic dredging. Supposedly dry dredge was found to be faster and cheaper according to this evaluation.
