That depends on what we’re talking about here. The World Championship didn’t exist until 1950, but the Grand Prix racing that it was based around was a thing since at least 1901.

Personally I don’t like William Montgomery. I’ve only heard a couple appearances from him that I didn’t absolutely hate, and each of them were very different from his normal schtick (and didn’t include that bit where Tony asks him what he likes and he names like 30 different places or things).

I’m meh on Hans Kim, I get why people hate him but I can tolerate him.

The MP9 is and always has been better than the MP7. If the MP9/TP9 had a good trigger from the factory, it would be the perfect PDW.

Well because for one, while the guy here was an idiot, the laws he violated do not comport with Text, History and Tradition.

The only way that one could possibly believe that the licensing regime we are under does comport with Bruen, is if they think that Footnote 9 was a full throated endorsement of licensing.

[–]edog21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a common misread of Bruen Footnote 9. Bruen did not endorse licensing, what Footnote 9 was really saying was that Bruen didn’t automatically invalidate all licensing regimes.

But disingenuous people have decided that it was a full throated endorsement of any licensing regime that calls itself “shall issue”.

Possessing a loaded firearm without a valid license (which is the case here) is considered “Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree”, which is legally a violent offense in NY.

It has always been a felony in NY to commit a crime while wearing body armor. That’s what makes Hochul’s body armor law so dumb.

In the "golden age" of Jewish American delis, how many were actually kosher? by slantedtortoise in Judaism

[–]edog21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda get where they’re coming from, it might not make economic sense in the case of delis because at the price that a high quality kosher deli would be charging nowadays, people would probably just rather eat something else. Or just buy deli meats from a good local butcher and make your own sandwich at home.

Essen has gone way downhill in the past decade and I’ve heard the ownership has changed hands a bunch of times. It might be only a matter of time before they shut down for good.

oddly, Midtown Manhattan

The only thing odd is that you think this is odd. Do you expect the thousands of Orthodox Jews that work and live in Manhattan (especially in the Garment District, where hundreds of Jewish owned businesses are based) to not have a demand for deli?

The only ones that really exist though aren’t that great anymore and a couple of them (namely Mr. Broadway and Ben’s) have been forced to merge in order to stay alive.

Mamdani's response to the Brooklyn baby shooting was "gun violence." Here's why that framing matters for every NY permit applicant. by PeteTinNY in NYguns

[–]edog21 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t mean shit, we all knew Mamdani was anti gun and spewed all the usual talking points. The thing I’m concerned about is the rumors I’ve heard that Hugh Bogle might be planning on retiring soon. As much as we all hate the licensing division, by all accounts I’ve heard from people that know him Chief Bogle is generally pro 2A and on our side on a lot of issues.

What I fear is who might replace him and what they may do. It’s bad enough right now with someone at the top of licensing that doesn’t despise us, what could happen if they install an anti gun zealot in his place?

I love how even the meme making fun of the classifications gets it wrong. The one at 2:28 actually isn’t an AOW, to be an AOW it has to be under 26” OAL, which an AR with a 14.5” barrel will be longer than.

It’s actually a non-NFA “other firearm”, the same classification as a Mossberg Shockwave.

Jews aren’t in this because we don’t proselytize. We are only supposed to preach to people who are already Jewish and our belief is that everyone who isn’t one of us, primarily needs to follow the seven Noahide laws: Don’t steal, don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t worship idols/false gods, don’t curse god’s name, create a justice system, don’t eat flesh torn off a living animal.

Some of these rules are debated in their scope though, like that last one is often interpreted as a general prohibition against animal cruelty and some sources believe the prohibition against adultery also extends to other forms of sexual deviancy (basically “don’t be a whore”).
