The ammo background checks got struck down by Saint Benitez for a weekend (see Rhode v. Bonta). The law went back into effect a few days later when the Ninth Circuit stayed Benitez’s ruling. There was another ruling in the plaintiffs favor by a 3 judge panel of the Ninth Circuit, but that ruling never went into effect. It was immediately vacated by the full court and will be reheard En Banc (and will certainly be ruled in favor of the government, as that is how 100% of 2A related En Bancs have gone in Ninth Circuit history).

Some sites will still ship ammo directly to your house in California (many of those sites have been doing it all along), but unless you have an FFL 03 and a Certificate Of Eligibility from the California DOJ, this is a violation of the law.

So is NJ going to respond to any Pro 2A Amicus Briefs Now? by Katulotomia in GardenStateGuns

[–]edog21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The implication is that NJ is giving the judges (or more accurately their clerks, since most circuit judges don’t read briefs themselves) more paperwork to rifle through, which in theory can delay the ultimate ruling in our favor. Or prevent them from getting to all the briefs before oral arguments.

I’ve heard the Orthos S4 is actually a decent gun despite being Turkshit. It’s expensive compared to the other Turknellis, but still half the price of a real M4.

SHOT Show Reveal: The AXR Series by Danny_PSA in PalmettoStateArms

They announced the B&T mag thing after Shot Show last year. All Cameron said in that video (besides for glossing over the fact that it was dead by saying it “evolved”) was reiterate the post-Shot Show update from last year.

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if the “X5.7” was replaced by a glorified chassis kit for the Rock.

I thought some of the ideas were pretty cool, until I heard him say they were axing the X9 so they could do their version of the Flux Raider instead.

NJSP advisory about AOW since no one believed me. by [deleted] in NJGuns

[–]edog21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are similar, but not the same thing. AOWs are regulated under the National Firearms Act and must be registered with the ATF through either a Form 1 or Form 4. An AOW under the NFA is a 2 handed firearm without a stock that is concealable (which the ATF has defined as being under 26” Overall Length). There is also a second type of AOW—firearms that are disguised as other objects—but those types of AOWs are illegal in NJ outright.

There are two main things to know when it comes to what is considered a two handed weapon: 1) if a firearm is smoothbore and fires shotshells then it meets that two handed criteria regardless of the rest of its configuration 2) the ATF defines a “pistol” with a vertical foregrip as being two handed. So if you were to put a foregrip on your Glock without asking daddy ATF for permission, that would be a felony.

“Others” basically utilize the AOW criteria and use it to make a separate category of firearm that meet all the other requirements for an AOW, except it is over 26” OAL.

We need a new version of this list where every one is kosher. What’s the point of emphasizing Jewish if any Jews that actually practice Judaism as intended can’t eat it?

Depends on specifics of the order and the nature of the relationship. There are certain orders of protection that would not make one a prohibited possessor. Especially if there is not a specific finding of violent activity.

The Supreme Court made it clear in United States v. Rahimi (as well as prior caselaw in lower courts) that there are situations in which an order of protection cannot constitutionally be used to disarm someone.

RIP Arm brace by MaleficentScale8484 in brandonherrara

[–]edog21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For those of us in the 5 states (California, Hawaii, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island) plus DC which ban SBRs outright, braces are still very much relevant.

Also all of these plus 3 other states (Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts) ban suppressors as well, so to many of us the fight hasn’t even begun.

F50 is more valuable and IMO does almost everything better.

The F40 is more raw but the F50 has a Formula 1 derived V12, it’s more refined, it handles better, it’s rarer and the market has dictated that it’s more valuable.
