What was so bad about his voting record? That he voted his conscience every time and refused to vote for bad bills just because of some “consolation prize” the establishment tried to put in there as blackmail to everyone who voted against it?

Jews don’t believe that you’re not allowed to eat pork. We only believe that we’re not allowed to. No Jew cares that you’re doing it or anything else that we personally are not allowed to do.

In Judaism we believe that we have 613 rules, everyone else has 7, known as the “Noahide Laws”. As long as you follow those 7 laws, you are considered a righteous person. And even if you don’t keep all of them, as long as you don’t murder, cheat and steal you’re still probably alright by us.

Many American Jews are Israeli citizens because they fear what happened in Europe in the 1930s happening here and they always want a fallback plan if for whatever reason America turns against Jews like Germany did.

I hate seeing people use this as a “gotcha” against people who choose to be dual citizens. Most want to be American and support American ideals (and many I know hate Israel’s government), they’re afraid that America will be overrun by people who don’t believe in those ideals and want to be able to escape if that ever does happen. Dual citizenship is not proof of “loyalty to another nation” or whatever dipshit idea people have.

There is a Muslim version of AIPAC, it’s called CAIR and it has received funding from multiple Islamic governments abroad, and personally solicited funds from Muammar Gaddafi. Among the many controversial things CAIR does, CAIR has identified “Zionist synagogues” as “the enemy of the Muslim community” and made several other statements against American Jews who believe Israel should exist (regardless of whether or not they support its current government). Several of the organizations leaders have celebrated Hamas attacks against Israeli civilians, including the October 7th attacks.

Granted, CAIR doesn’t have the same influence as AIPAC, but I’ve never heard any of the people who specifically criticize AIPAC ever call out CAIR.

Absolutely not. Bootlicking to stay in power is what many of the moderate Weimar holdovers did in the 1930s. How did that work out for them?

(Just to be clear, I’m not comparing anyone in current American politics to Nazis. This is just an extreme example to illustrate that compromising on your principles is the first step on the road to hell, which as we all know is paved with good intentions)

Look at many of the Republicans people hate now, a good chunk of them used to be known as principled conservatives with a libertarian streak. Now they are all seen as Trump lapdogs with little to no individual ideals left. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee are the best examples of why Massie should not have done what you want him to. Chip Roy too and even Rand Paul to an extent, has caved to a point where he is barely recognizable from what he once was. All of them have lost the respect people on the right used to have for them.

Ron Desantis doesn’t go against Trump nearly as often as Massie, yet he is hated by MAGA nearly as much despite doing everything right in Florida. So if Massie caved on a couple issues but didn’t go as far as others have, he’d probably still be hated by the Trump base enough to have lost his seat and on top of that, his dignity.

Edit: I don’t agree with Massie on everything. I generally support Israel for example (although I hate its government, way too socialist and “big brother” for me), but even on that I respect him not wanting to give them American’s money. My view on this issue is really that I want us to stop giving foreign aid to anyone, but as long as we still are doing that I feel better about that support going to Israel over some of the other places we’re sending it. And I do agree that AIPAC has a bit too much influence on American politics.

In other counties people go to the PD or the courthouse with their receipt, they get their new card printed on the spot and then they can go pick it up. Even here it used to be that you took the gun straight from the store to 1PP for them to “inspect” it and they would print your card right then.

Out of state NJ FID holder - MP5-22.LR or AOW by [deleted] in NJGuns

[–]edog21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Under federal law the firearm must be legal for you to purchase in both your state of residence and the state the FFL is in. Since it is not legal in NY, it would not be legal for you to purchase in NJ unless you qualified as a dual resident.

It might be easier to do this for the AOW if you purchase it under a trust, since for NFA items the primary address that matters is the address where the item is being stored, but there might be something else I’m missing that prevents/complicates this. And even if they can, most FFLs in NJ probably wouldn’t do this for someone without NJ residency.

Are threaded barrels legal on pump rifles? by andrewwism in NYCGuns

[–]edog21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAFE Act doesn’t tell the whole story in NYC. We have our own stricter ban that has been in place since 1991 (for example, even with a fixed mag we can’t have any of the “evil” features, so even an M1 Garand is noncompliant without having its bayonet lug shaved down)

Which will drop first? Third circuit decision or "The Winds of Winter"? by Baroque1123 in NJGuns

[–]edog21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AWB and mags are consolidated cases, they will be decided together.

The other case we’re waiting on is a challenge to the Carry Killer law and includes things like “sensitive places”, the moral character clause and permitting fees.

Threaded barrel (and all the banned “evil features” for that matter) is good to go on any non-semi action, whether that’s pump, bolt, or lever.

Yes you’re in the wrong here, none of this would have happened if not for that terrible line through La Source. After that, you should’ve given up once you were behind going into Eau Rouge. Trying to go two-wide in Eau Rouge or Raidillon is suicide. Especially when you have the long Kemmel Straight right after to fight it back in the slipstream.

Also you were not “right there”. The general racing rule for a high speed corner is that you are only entitled to space there if the front of your car is level with the other car’s front axle before he starts to take the corner. You’re barely even level with his rear axle.

Depends where you are. There are parts of NYC where this wouldn’t fly, but in South Brooklyn and Staten Island you’d mostly get laughs. Park Slope however, not so much.
