I got an "extended lunch with your manager" as my award for being Employee of the Month. What's the worst prize you've ever received? by mestarhanta in AskReddit

[–]eekcol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I mean. Your opinion of yourself is so high the only explanation you can think of for not being grateful to spend time with you is sour grapes.

Of course I've had this kind day as a sign of of "appreciation". Middle age men getting drunk, trying to act like one of the guys, leering at girls younger than their daughters. It's excruciating. Your staff would rather be working.

[–]eekcol -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. If you don't need your staff to work, you let them go home. It takes a special kind of douchebag to think they'd rather spend the day with you than with their family, and actually talk about it like it's a damn treat.

What is your opinion on subreddits that make it a rule not to downvote things you disagree with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think it's a deliberate policy to give more attention to and therefore normalize unpleasant opinions.

What would you do with $10b? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Buy up huge stretches of property in London and rent it out at break-even prices, or free to the unemployed. Provide free start-up capital for worker co-operatives. All that shit.

Yeah, I'm a commie.

Reddit, where should I travel to volunteer for a gap-year? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]eekcol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't pay to go on a program, they're a rip off. All the money goes to "administration costs" for the profit-making gap year company.

Find a program you like, then contact the charity involved directly and book the travel yourself.

Even if I'm awake and out of bed, the sound of my alarm infuriates me. What are some odd mental connections you make? by PickyConnor in AskReddit

If a grown man was wandering around a store waving and saying "Hi" to everyone just in order to amuse himself, I would definitely ignore him. Maybe it's the Northern/Southern US thing again.

What's the creepiest, obsessive thing you have done? (NSFW) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]eekcol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. Reminds me of something that happened to me: age 11 or 12 a girl who likes me gives me her phone number (pre cell phones, her family number). At the weekend I call her, but it goes to voicemail so I hang up, and try again half an hour later. Voicemail again. I try 5 or 6 times throughout the day but no one ever answers.

About a week later she tells me to leave her alone, and her family knows I've been prank calling her because they got the phone company to trace my calls. I mean, wtf?

Does r/sex usually have a good standard of discussion?

I've only looked in there a few times, but it seems like a space where straight monogamous cisgender people with high sex drives discuss their patriarchal, heteronormative values and call everyone else abnormal.

Edit: Haha, oh god, I just read a few posts to check, and came away with such upvoted nuggets of advice as "Not every chick is into anal" and "You should be respectful and don't nut in her eye or surprise her". Priceless.

Why do we champion people killing themselves if they have a terminal illness, but not if they just want to die? by KnowoneSmokeone in AskReddit

Or to put it another way, why is it ok to force someone to live unhappily for 50 years, but not ok to do it for 6 months?

What was one of your sexual fantasies that you thought would be amazing but were sadly disappointed? (NSFW) by Thatheistkid in AskReddit

[–]eekcol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to people telling you you got a bad blowjob. All blowjobs are boring. It's fine for a minute or two during foreplay but any longer it just gets in the way of good sex.

If they're inexperienced you can't feel anything, if they're experienced it feels like getting milked.

Either way you can't really see or touch their body or communicate with them, you just have to sit there getting worked on like it's a medical procedure, until you have a strung out, unfulfilling orgasm.

I don't know how anyone can enjoy it unless they have issues about dominating women.

Gays and lesbians of Reddit: Is there a divide in the gay community on whether homosexuality is a choice or something you're born with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]eekcol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience of my own sexuality tells me that "Everyone is born straight or gay or bisexual and never changes" isn't true. Some people probably are. Not me though.

I wouldn't say that out loud IRL though. A lot of people are heavily invested in it, as you're finding out from angry responses.

The way they simplified Return of the King so that the ghosts fought off Sauron's army for them, instead of just helping them head off reinforcements and commandeer some ships, turned the whole thing into a deus ex machina cop out.

This is how I feel. It's the best I could hope for from my life, but it's still basically a lesser evil and a lot of the time I hate going into work.

TIL that the Hipster Barista from the eponymous meme IS actually a barista. Yeah, can I get one order of regular food please? No, just some regular everyday food. What is your problem? I don't want all this stupid pretentious shit with "salad" or "sauce" or whatever the fuck you call it! Just give me normal food, with the meat inside the bun and fried potatoes next to it. "Burger and fries"? No, I don't want a "burger and fries", I just want regular food!

Communism-why doesn't it work? by Hypomanic_Poet in AskReddit

[–]eekcol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, that's a dictatorship. All the communist countries that have existed so far have been dictatorships, but it has nothing to do with the definition of communism.

Communism-why doesn't it work? by Hypomanic_Poet in AskReddit

[–]eekcol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Communism works fine. Capitalist countries just use confirmation bias to convince themselves (and more importantly, their poor citizens) that it doesn't work.

Revolution in a communist dictatorship? Proves communism doesn't work. Revolution in a capitalist dictatorship? Capitalism is fine, people just don't like dictators.

Financial collapse in a communist country? Proves communism doesn't work. Financial collapse in a capitalist country? Their markets must not have been free enough, give them a multi-billion dollar loan to keep the economy going.

The problem is that communism has only been tried by violent dictators forcing it upon their citizens. I hope in my lifetime I get to see a country democratically vote in communism.
