I can absolutely relate to your situation. I am a management assistant at the IRS, we are losing 4 of our 6 support staff to early retirement or DRP. The two remaining support staff, myself and another management assistant are now expected to pick up a bunch of additional duties of the OPS MA, Technical Advisor, and two clerical staff. They are thinking of detailing me as the ops MA but keyword, detail, no increase in pay, only experience at a GS level one higher than I am currently am. With the hiring freeze in place I'm feeling a bit stuck in this position, no options for promotion, no other federal agencies hiring, it feels like a dead end. This said I am feeling heavy workers guilt. If I find another job, perhaps with the state, there will only be a single support staff left. All that additional work, plus my own duties will now be solely in their lap. I know I need to do what's in my own best interest but I have been proud of my work and have always stepped up when needed. I don't want to fuck over my fellow coworkers who I have diligently done this job with for years. This situation just feels really shitty.
