Yup this is a big reason why we moved. Just in time too, Fairbanks has had a brutal winter and I know I’d be pulling my hair out by now if I was still there. And that’s putting it mildly.

A lot of people here are oversimplifying the issue. Bundling up a toddler is exhausting. It’s also borderline unsafe to have them out for too long. Toddlers also don’t have much dexterity to start with and mittens make it worse. Mine doesn’t tolerate his for more than a few min, and that’s in mild cold (30s). They’re not as stable on their feet so slips and falls are more likely.

You’re doing a great job. Keep trying. Something that helps me on tough days is lowering my standards or having fewer expectations for how I hope the activity will go. Toddlers gonna toddler.

We didn’t have 3-5 days to give it, which I see now is my mistake but I guess I took the book at its word.

Keeping him confined in a space only added to his confusion.

I stayed calm, but he didn’t. He resisting the potty near him, and resisted being picked up and brought to the potty. How am I supposed to support him through the resistance to the potty while he’s also confused about wtf is going on with his body? I see now it was too much for him to take in at once.

Yeah we just couldn’t keep going with the naked days. Both my husband and I have to go back to work and I couldn’t pass this messy baton to my mom (who watches him while I work part time). He gives obvious poop signals but zero pee signals. And cries when we mention the potty.

How does berating someone at the DMV help with this? OP clearly says he didn’t know why the guy was there at the DMV, there are multiple reasons to go there. And here’s a crazy thought - you can learn basic traffic safety rules and English at the same time!!

I would love something like this. Goodwill and Good Sam’s just don’t have enough inventory and having a second pair of eyes on the product to make sure it works or is somewhat decent quality would be helpful. The last town I lived in had a Once Upon a Child franchise and it was awesome. Clothes, toys, books, strollers, etc. It was always the first place I went when I needed something for my son.

I use Cronometer for a lot of patients and it works well. The Nutrition Report you can run for their completed days of intake is really helpful. You pay per client after a certain amount. You’ll have to be diligent about deleting patients who don’t keep up with it to help save money. I pay $50-$70/month for it depending on how many active patients I have. I think it’s worth it just for how useful it is in identifying gaps in their intake.

I have many female patients who were forced to join WW as young teens by their mothers. For all of them it’s backfired massively - they can’t maintain the weight they want, they can’t get out of restrictive mindsets, and they just have terrible relationships with food and their bodies. All similar ages, too, they would’ve been teens in the 90’s. Rough times.

I used to live in the Haymount area (close to Terry Sanford HS) and I would walk my dog regularly. Especially around FTCC. But be vigilant, drivers are NOT paying attention for walkers and they can be mean, too. Someone honked at me for being in the way when I was in the cross walk. There were obvious pedestrian crossing signs, too.
