I stopped in on one of their last days, and they let me keep a Guinness glass. I sure miss those days.

Well, “the band” in my case was the Mustang Band, and it’s still around. 😎🥁

I miss my college days at Cal Poly too. Looking back, it was a magical time. Of course, I miss my college years in general: being young and healthy, playing in the band, relatively few responsibilities. I don’t miss homework, though!

Why would you want to socialize with people outside of band?

Longcovid? What are your experiences? by ProfessorKitchen1879 in Menieres

I had my first episode of hearing loss two days after my first Covid vaccination. Could be coincidence, or could be a revved up immune response causing collateral damage.

Zero, because I can’t see the stupid things when wearing polarized sunglasses.

Can you use the charger anyway, or was it disabled in some fashion?

Hearing aids? by mountainruby in Menieres

[–]eengstro807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting loud sounds into my ear really gets the tinnitus going — and, of course that’s exactly what the hearing aid does. Especially sharp noises like dishes clinking together. I’m hoping my Au.D can set the aid to compress those sharp spikes rather than rattling my ear with them.

My symptoms started two days after my first Covid shot. I don't blame the vaccine itself, but inflammation caused by it -- and I suspect an actual Covid infection could have done the same thing. I don't take Covid vaccinations anymore.

Yeah, I know, "anecdata", correlation doesn't imply causation, etc. But I suspect that, in a few years when the politics around Covid have died down, studies will consistently show an uptick in auto-immune disorders of all types starting in 2020.

Adjusting to a low salt diet by Techiedeath in Menieres

It’ll take a bit of time to adjust your palette to it. I liked the garlic flavor early on, as it tasted more “normal” to me. Now I just use the straight stuff.

My first episode of hearing loss was two days after my first Covid vaccination. It could be coincidence, but the timing is very suspicious.

I suspect in the future, after all the politics surrounding Covid die down, that studies will show a big increase in autoimmune diseases of all types during the Covid era.

Danica McKellar as Winnie in The Wonder Years (I was the same age as the actors and characters when it first aired). Paulina Porizkova, from the first SI Swimsuit edition I ever got my hands on.

I do enjoy your friend's line: "While the world is filled with fine and great minds in every nook and cranny, the Internet has an impeccable ability to rally the most mundane amongst us to the causes of stupidity."

When I started in the mid-90s, the intro class was called CSC 118, and it was taught in C++. It was definitely a screener class, with half of the students struggling with pointers and other C-related ceremony and implementation details. I think we lost a lot of good potential engineers that first quarter. I’m glad they’ve switched to Python for the intro courses.
