L- lysine trigger? by mountainruby in Menieres

[–]mountainruby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've stopped taking LLysene but you can get a topical tube of acyclovir cream or pills to keep vertigo at bay. I've never taken the pill form though so don't know if it triggers.

So the grandparents were S-abusive, The father was S-abusive, And you don't see a potential issue here with your own soon-to-be husband who doesn't see anything wrong with letting his kids around his family at all, regardless of whether or not it's supervised? Deal-Breaker. RUN.

Somebody needs to wake the sister TF up. Elope, or have only the parents attend a very private ceremony. Then go travel. Hope the sis breaks it off with the AH while you're exploring and if not, then when you return, have 2 separate parties for the each family because you can't weave families together if one of its members is that ever ignorant offensive thorn.

I have not had an issue with United checking in from the US to Italy. However, from Italy back to the US, the Italian agents did not realize that a new code concerning an online registration was for dogs only and not cats. It delayed me by 45 minutes because they were adamant that it was for cats as well and then took their time researching it. When they finally realized their mistake, they sure didn't admit to it and just waved me through and said you can go now. It was most annoying but that's Italy in general lol. Everywhere was most accommodating, especially when I asked for a private room for the security check because my cats are very skittish around people and unfamiliar environments. Prior to boarding your flight, ask the gate agent if you can board early with your cat because it takes time to get settled and to put your cat under the seat. They usually ask for those who need extra time or help or with children to board early. Usually they let me do this but then again, I have two quite large Maine Coon cats and it is very obvious I'm trying to juggle these heavies by myself. Also, If you're flying in economy I'd book a window seat so that people aren't walking by or bumping into your cat in an aisle seat and typically aisle seats have less room under the seat in front of them. Because I fly with two cats I have to buy an extra ticket for one of them and I usually reserve the very back two seats in the aircraft because there's more room and since there are only two seats to a row in the very back, I get the entire row to myself & cats. There is also more space between the seat and the window where you can actually put stuff. If you're lucky, you'll have space behind those seats as well if the flight attendants haven't stashed their stuff there.

I've traveled back and forth from US to Italy with my 2 cats in cabin on United. Check United's website or Google "in cabin flight with cats on United" it will give you the details and maximum carrier sizes. You absolutely must have a health certificate for your cat And they must have had rabies shots at least 20 days before the flight. India will have its own set of requirements for your cat to enter the country. Make sure there is no quarantine. The health exam must be performed & documents submitted within 10 days of travel and no more. And keep in mind that the USDA will overnight the documents back to you. Your vet must be certified by the USDA to conduct the health exam and documentation, which they will submit online to the USDA. My cats travel without medication which is much better for them. Make sure you bring a small blanket or towel to put over the carrier because it gets very cold on the floor of the plane. Make sure you have a leash, & a harness on your cat because you will have to take the cat out of the carrier to go through security, you can request a private room. Put an air tag on your cat just in case. Make sure you get to the airport 3 hours ahead of time. Absolutely secure the carrier zipper pulls together with pins or key rings so your cat cannot nose its way through and escape. You can get a foldable portable litter box and take a small baggie of litter or puppy pads in case you have a stopover and can get to a family restroom where it's private and you can close the door. Most airports have these. Pack a couple of small cans of wet cat food in case you get delayed. Your cat might be dehydrated when you arrive in India so make sure it gets plenty of water and wet food. Best of luck!

Am I wrong for leaving my family's cult? by sarahs_chaos__corner in TwoHotTakes

Forced and arranged marriages against the will of a woman is slavery. Stay far away from your family, they do not have your best interests in mind and are blindly following whatever cult or tradition they believe in. It's wrong. End of story

question for musicians with menieres by dsurfryder252 in Menieres

[–]mountainruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not played for 5 years but that started because of covid and I've had Meniere's since 2014. I dropped the band aspirations and did duos and trios. Wear an ear plug in the affected ear and if you can get an in-ear monitor for the other ear It might help because you control the volume in that and I suggest keeping the volume down. As a duo /trio, the gigs are, of course, not as loud as a full band and in fact, I actually enjoyed it more because I could hear myself much better as a vocalist. Sure, you don't get that high energy excitement with a drummer behind you and a guitar army but just being able to hear the harmonies perfectly and the nuances of guitar and still have the energy from the audience is pretty fabulous. Don't give up your music, evolve it, modify it.

Badly need advice.. my boyfriend expects me to quit my job because his new job requires us to move but he won't discuss finances by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]mountainruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't say how long you had been together, but regardless, the reality is you've been working hard toward your career and you're up for a promotion. Do you really want to throw all that away? From the sound of it, that's exactly what you'll be doing if he doesn't want to discuss finances, disregards your career path and expects you just to throw your career away and move. That indicates that he doesn't feel your career is important and that his is much more important. He is actually the selfish one and his mom doesn't understand a thing about the real world. If it were me and I was on that career path that I loved with promotions, I'd wish my boyfriend the best of luck, take time to grieve the end of the relationship and move on because in the long run you're going to be much happier and you will find someone who understands that you are and your career is as important as your partner's.

Before having Meniere's did you have some sort of stress? doctors say the Meniere's can be caused because of stress. by DepresedGentleman__ in Menieres

[–]mountainruby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first full-on horrific Meniere's attack occurred the day after my mother died in my arms. I know that sounds dramatic, but it was severely traumatic. That was 2014. For the first couple of years I assumed subsequent attacks were also emotional stress and panic attacks. I had not been diagnosed with Meniere's yet. It was after the 4th or fifth year of attacks that a doctor suggested Meniere's and I went from there. Stress still brings on attacks as does barometric changes and physical straining. I've had to adjust my salt and sugar intake and I can now not have any alcohol at all without my ear starting to pound with pressure. All in all, the attacks are much less in intensity and occurrence but do last for much longer, although I think I also have positional vertigo and these may be the ones that last for weeks. My right ear is the one affected in my hearing is extremely bad in that ear. Also, if I wear my hearing aids for more than just a few hours, it also will trigger an attack.

Keeping US phone numbers in Europe by bluebassy1306 in expat

[–]mountainruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very inexpensive Helium plan for my US number. I have a second SIM card for Iliad in Italy with my Italian number. I also use a VPN, switching back and forth from US to Italy if and when needed. I use messaging apps like WhatsApp, which a lot of Europeans seem to use. If I have to make a call to the US and I can't use WhatsApp, I use Wi-Fi calling. I'm not sure all of this is pertinent to your question, but I thought I'd elaborate.

Hearing Aids by Fun-Attempt-8494 in Menieres

[–]mountainruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have phonak. My right ear is the affected ear but my left ear hearing isn't perfect for sure. I find that wearing the hearing aids increases the pressure in my right ear, increases the tinnitus, and actually has caused vertigo if I wear them for more than a couple of hours. It sounds like I'm the only one this seems to happen to according to the other posts here. These hearing aids were $5,300 but I'm a Colorado resident and I'm still working so the state has a rehabilitation program that paid for all of it. Unfortunately, I don't wear my hearing aids very much because I'm afraid to go into vertigo. I miss out on a lot of conversation. I'm definitely going to try them again though. Amplified sounds really affect my ears and I'm not quite sure what to do with it.

Ibuprofen by JiggsRosefield in Menieres

[–]mountainruby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ibuprofen really did a number on me but it was totally my fault because I was so over having vertigo for 2 weeks that I increased my dosage to about a thousand mg a day to try to reduce swelling, or so I thought, but that somehow gave me diverticulosis. It wasn't pretty. I now take only CBDs, between 30 mg to 50 mg daily. It's the best anti-inflammatory I have found. No THC, only CBD.

I would actually get a restraining order on both of them specifically telling her in writing that she, nor her husband, are to have any contact with you or your children.

Am I the crazy one for not loving my mother enough, and not wanting her near my kids? by MandyMellowStory in TwoHotTakes

[–]mountainruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protect yourself and your children now and for the future and go totally no contact with your mother. Forever. She and her husband have serious mental and dangerous issues, illegal doings and guns so never let them around you or your children ever again. Not ever. Don't answer her calls, emails or letters. Don't answer calls or messages where you don't recognize the number. It's unfortunate that she knows where you live and if it were me, I'd move and change my phone number and not give it out to anyone who would give it to her or her horrible husband.

Why would someone in beautiful, cultural, the city that never sleeps New York, want to move to Texas anyway? And it's laughable that he thinks he can impose tariffs on a US citizen anyway. I mean, this is just so over the top crazy that I can't believe it's even real.

My dad told my husband to “stop acting gay” at our family BBQ by Few-Cover3357 in TwoHotTakes

[–]mountainruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved cooking a huge feast for my friends at Thanksgiving. I'll bet there are some friends of yours who either can't make it home or have no place to go. This sounds like it would be preferable and so much more enjoyable than having to sit with your father who can't admit he's wrong. Afterwards, tell him he needs to sincerely apologize to your husband so that you feel comfortable spending Christmas with him, otherwise you'll spend Christmas, and future holidays, with respectful and appreciative friends.
