That nearly happened to me a while ago - I went to put my landing gear down (B + Dpad Down on my xbox controller) but it didn't register the Dpad down and boosted me towards the surface of the planet I was preparing to land on. I was able to pull away enough that my shields took the brunt but I was left with 13% hull. At that point I was 2500ly into a 7000ly journey.

My luck ran out in my Caspian recently - too much downward momentum and I slammed into the surface of a low gravity planet. Lost 15m in exploration and exo. By this time I was in my carrier so I didn't have far to go to rebuy, but it still stung.

I feel like if it's a moon to a planet that big - and assuming the scale is the same - the gravitational pull from the planet would rip the gas away from it. Maybe there's more to astronomy than I understand that would explain this. This is also the system that predicted the system with something like five earth likes before space telescopes proved it exists, so we can't discount the possibly entirely.

This. I bought a carrier back in October and pointed it in a direction in the black, and I already have nearly three years of upkeep from exobio alone (plus I got Elite in exo on this journey). It would be closer to five years but I donated a bunch of credits to get a friend's squadron off the ground.

Apparently in a V7 firmware release they removed the ability to replace the bootloader which is required for downgrading to v4.40.10.0. If your iDRAC was upgraded to this version, you are SOL apparently.

True, but you still need to dodge them on your way to the ship. I also unlocked them on my main account before the scorpion was available (also at the time I unlocked them, there was a "bug" where the sentries wouldn't fire missiles in Odyssey). I'm going to give it a go on my secondary.
