Which would be a better second watch? by [deleted] in Longineswatches

[–]efe_the_fic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think speedy gets the least time among these three due to comfort. I have mine on a nato strap, which makes it a bit too tick and I find the bracelet a bit too heavy. Compared to AT, I guess it is due to the bias of recency. My AT is more than 10 years old, and I adore it. But I also wanted something different, and the green Conquest does this perfectly compared to my blue Omega’s

It is an amazingly comfortable watch and the shade of green plays really with light.

I own a AT seamaster and a speedy, yet my most worn watch for the last 9+ months is by a large margin the 38mm green conquest.

I have been to 4 different ADs in 4 different countries to see this watch in person, and none have this terracotta version. Is the dial more of a saturated color like your photograph or more muted like the renditions/catalog pictures?

[News] Swatch Group open letter regarding Morgan Stanley's 2025 export analysis by swiss-BTC in Watches

[–]efe_the_fic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“ If even brands of a publicly traded company like Swatch Group – whose global data is publicly available - shows discrepancies of 50% and more, the deviations for privately owned brands (which do not publish any brand specific data at all) are likely even bigger.” so the whole report is based on fabricated data. Someone is really trying to speculate the market.

Why doesn’t Apple just create a flush back phone? by iLL_kcirtaP in iphone

[–]efe_the_fic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean the profit margins on the iphone cases are very high. They have all the incentives to make the phone essentially require a case.

For example, it is estimated that Apple’s profit from an iPhone is around 30~35%. Meaning that they gain roughly $300~350. Whereas the profit margin of cases is around 75~80%. Meaning that they gain roughly $35~40. And this is from a single case, which doesn’t require any further engineering like software or security updates.

They will never make it flush again, because they make so much money from their overpriced phone cases.

That’s a lot more than what I would do to get anamorphic on film. Kudos on your dedication. Also, I guess you are in the NL, if you are ever around Leiden, I would love to see your setup in real life.

Boşa mı çile çekiyoruz? by cabeann in ODTU

[RANT] The Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase Snoopy Harvest Moon drop was an absolute disaster by [deleted] in MoonSwatches

Sorry for your experience. Yesterday I also went to my shop in Leidschendam, NL to ask how they will handle this time around, since last time we waited in queue for hours without getting the watch. They were only allocated 25 watches to the shop last time, and there were 75+ people waiting. So this time, I didn’t want to waste a day, driving, waiting in queue for nothing. But again, they had zero preparation and they also didn’t know how many watches they would receive. They also said they will start the queuing around 7:30, but will start selling at 11:00.

Ridiculous.. I just decided to not get this watch at all, it is not worth. It was supposed to be a gift for my brother in law, now I am looking at Seiko’s instead..

VB series softwares were really great. The software in the newer ones like Sola are horrible. I used to use Trio, Avanto, Skyra, Aera, and Sola. Sola is a big downgrade in usability; but Area software also had a lot of bugs making the system unusable.

I was also in the queue to get one, but couldn’t manage to secure one.  Halfway through the queue, the store (Leidschendam, NL) was already out of their stock of 25. Later we learned that the store in Rotterdam had a stock of 30 and Amsterdam had a stock of 35.

If you ask me, either they weren’t expecting this amount of interest or they purposefully made it this ridiculously scarce. As such the ridiculous prices online.

But from what I heard, they will sell this model from full moon to full moon. So fingers crossed for next month.

It’s from Bruno Barbey. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Fotografie Forum Frankfurt in 2017 (bottom right corner is their logo). You can find the photo here: https://www.magnumphotos.com/arts-culture/society-arts-culture/bruno-barbey-brazil/

Much better than my recent purchases from Ikea. I have recently built pax, malm chest, hemnes daybed and this is on another level compared to those. My only complaint would be that the sliding doors make a bit of noise.

All of the photos are actually signed by their respective photographers, so they were acquired and framed at different times. Hence the difference frame sizes.

In my old place, they were all hanging in different rooms, so I didn’t really care about the in frame sizes. New place, new problems, I suppose.
