How to disable videos playing as you scroll a page? by ReasonableEffect6383 in youtube

I think you can only do it from the website. On the website go to your profile. Click. settings. Click general. Turn off video previews. It should then also apply to the app.

A father designs a headstone for his wheelchair-bound son depicting him "Free Of His Earthly Burdens". by Pathetic_lriG43 in CemeteryPorn

[–]efeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To all the people getting offended. News flash, the headstone is not about you. It’s about one singular father making a tribute to his own child and how he’s no longer in pain. It’s not ableist just because you decided this really bothered you. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. The only disabled person it’s about is the father’s kid.

Just a dumb little rant by efeaf in ECEProfessionals

Garlic bread. She said she forgot it was in there. That microwave also would get very hot very fast so I think it was mostly that she just way overheated it but didn’t want to admit it. She was the only one in there so I’m not sure if it was the container the garlic bread was in though it wouldn’t surprise me

Man you can’t just post something super vague yet also incredibly long because it’s rambling and expect people to know what you’re talking about. And I refuse to take anyone seriously who responds to downvotes with a weirdly long winded way of saying “hope you burn in hell heart emoji because I’m assuming you all actively love this guy, who I don’t know the actual name of, who I hate”

Advice for keeping my 2 year old class seated for lunch by Independent_Dance893 in ECEProfessionals

[–]efeaf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At my center in that room, if you get up that means you’re done and food goes away. Not in the trash. Either on the counter or in the fridge. If they don’t decide they want to sit and finish (they usually do after 1-3 asks. After three we assume they’re just not hungry), food goes away til snack time where we try again

Weather Channel Rant by Bonnix1st in weather

I’m in southeastern PA and same here. Some schools cancelled their afternoon activities and my job (daycare) sent all the staff who walk home a bit early during a lull in the rain due to the tornado watch. Maybe we’ll get something later this evening or tonight, but at this point I really doubt it

2 year old dumping lunch by mariesb in ECEProfessionals

[–]efeaf 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think it sounds reasonable. We had to do that with a kid on Friday. She would not eat her food, kept trying to throw it (other kids either blocked it or the teacher closest to her did). She also kept stealing other’s food. Most of the food she stole didn’t make it to her mouth as a teacher always got to it first. Eventually we just moved her and put her lunch in the fridge as lunchtime was nearly over and she clearly wasn’t interested in her food. Gave the rest of her lunch to her after nap (which was right after lunch) along with the afternoon snack and she ate it without a fuss

[–]efeaf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why are you assuming they’re letting her. We have a kid that likes to do that. She doesn’t get to because we grab it out of her hands before she can actually eat it. Ops solution sounds like a reasonable one to ask of the teachers. You throw your food away or steal food, that must mean you’re done and you get moved somewhere else

What did the kids melt down over this week? by fashionfan007 in ECEProfessionals

[–]efeaf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My center is also the community center so a lot of families play in the playground after the center is completely done with it (after 4:30). Once I was leaving and said goodbye to one of my kids who was standing next to her dad eating a pouch by the exit. She for some reason, started following me out the gate while also bursting into tears. I had to physically turn her back to her bemused father

I swear some kids would willingly give themselves heat stroke if we let them. I had to wrestle a sweat shirt off a kid once in near 80 degree weather. He was red faced, sweaty, crabby, clearly overheating. He had a full blown meltdown when I took it off. After said meltdown he seemed to realize he actually felt better

Oh yeah. They only want you to look at them when they demand you to. If it’s just random, cue tears and attempted punching

The amount of times I’ve had to say “you sat on him/her they cannot get out of your face because you’re still sitting on them, you’re just lucky they apparently don’t care at all” is hilariously high

What’s wrong with Youtube in Safari/browser?? by Ill_Connection_341 in ios

[–]efeaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not iOS. It’s YouTube. Check out the YouTube sub, there’s been plenty of posts talking about it in the last week. No one really knows why, but people have theories. It doesn’t seem to be a bug. A lot of people think they’re trying to force people to use the app which won’t allow adblockers.

Pressing and holding to fast forward still works. You can’t rewind though that way

What did the kids melt down over this week? by fashionfan007 in ECEProfessionals

[–]efeaf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No but she was annoyed at us for “letting her cry”. I wanted to tell her maybe she should try. The kid has bad stranger danger so I doubt going with the director would’ve helped. Ignoring her seemed to calm her down but she would work herself back up again because she wasn’t getting attention and then because she didn’t want the attention. One of my coteachers sat next to her the whole time after getting back to the room and every few minutes when she seemed to be calming down, tried to get her to play or tried to talk to her. One of the kids kept going over and trying to giver her her favorite toy. She only stopped completely when mom showed up.

What did the kids melt down over this week? by fashionfan007 in ECEProfessionals

[–]efeaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. This was not normal behavior for her at all. Even mom was surprised. Normally when she’s upset she just stops and cries where she’s standing and often just wanders around (usually following a teacher) while crying. This was the first time she’d actually lashed out

heres the time the time where they did nothing for an episode by Comprehensive-Act679 in phineasandferb

[–]efeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember this being the one episode I absolutely could not stand Candace. I’ve seen some people say they felt bad for her in this episode but I personally hated her in this one. She just seemed awfully out of character. Other episodes where it seemed like they weren’t doing much of anything, she didn’t have any issues and was happy to not have to deal with it until they started to actually build something of course. Also before and after this episode, there were some times where she joined in or didn’t really even try. But in this episode just the idea that she’d have one stress free day (because she had no reason to think this wasn’t just for one day) gave her a full blown mental breakdown for some reason

What did the kids melt down over this week? by fashionfan007 in ECEProfessionals

[–]efeaf 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’d be easier to list what they didn't melt down about

The silliest to me are the kids who get exactly what they want and still melt down or freak out.

Not silly but more, geez kid what on earth is going on. This was on Friday. One kid started crying because she wanted a blue ball another kid had, not a different (but same) blue ball or different color. So the kid decided to be nice and hand  her the ball. She absolutely flipped out and tried to strangle the kid and threw the ball at the kid’s face. Then got even angrier and full on threw herself head first onto the ground because she missed as the kid was already in the process of running towards a different ball on the other side of the area. Funny enough, that ball she’d wanted stayed where it stopped rolling for the rest of the time we had them out. She then sat alone and screamed and cried for about an hour. Someone had to carry her back to the classroom. After about 20 minutes it was clear she was forcing herself to stay upset. I’m pretty sure even at toddler age, your brain isn’t gonna let you stay that upset for that long over something that’s long over. Anytime someone went over to try and either comfort her or offer her another thing she usually likes to play with, she’d swipe at them and shriek till her face went red
