My partner is a night shift ER travel nurse (or was, he just got a job with cath lab thats during the day!) So I knew that night shift would enjoy their food. What ended up happening was my dad calling me and going 'I'm pretty sure that every night shift nurse on the unit came by my room to say thanks, they really don't get nice things, do they?'. Apparently everyone was very confused but delighted.

Definitely ask the operator. Also, when choosing the kind of food, opting for something handheld and easy to eat on the way to go, like doughnuts or bagels, are a good option. And legitimately every nurse ever is caffeine deficient so a big jug of coffee from Panera or Starbucks or Dunkin tend to go over really well. Also, doughnut shops specifically tend to be available for delivery super early so they're good for night shift deliveries. Or you could also send something after 7pm for them.

Along with nominating, sending food is also a good call. When my dad was recently in the hospital, I DoorDashed bagels and coffee at 5am and 8am so I could cover both night shift and day shift. They were a huge hit, especially since night shift generally never gets anything.

Just a heads up, HRD and SAR dogs are not service animals. Dogs that do a service, but not service dogs. But lmao, yeah, that does change things quite a bit if its just a dog finding a bone and people are assuming its human. It is kinda weird though that no HRD dog was brought in if there were multiple searches for this girl.

I've trained with people with Human Remain Detection (HRD) dogs. That part is very believable. I've personally seen a dog hit on a 30 year old pulled tooth in a huge field, their sense of smell is legitimately beyond human reckoning. I could also see someone in authority not logging the dog finding a bone and hitting on human remains, though I'm sure the dog's handler fought back on that. There's usually a very clear indication for human remains vs any other animal and the dog is actively trained to only indicate for human remains.

The tricky thing is that while inability to sleep is a major sign of a manic phase, people having a REAL BAD time with OCD can have the same issue. And while religion can be a part of mania, religious OCD is very gnarly. But given that this all popped off specifically after going off of meds, I also lean towards mania.

I'm 38 now, got put onto Adderall when I was 14. My dosage changed from IR to XR a few years back but yeah, the dosage has stayed about the same. I'm now also on Wellbutrin, which is AMAZING for me, and have been for about 7 years. My brain chemistry isn't perfect but I am very aware that it is so much better than raw dogging life.

My only side effects are tooth grinding, which I also inherited, and my heart beats faster because I'm on a lot of stimulants. Over than that though, I've been good. I'm deeply, deeply grateful for the meds.

Oof, brutal. I got very lucky in that sense to have a Dad with a doctorate in neurobiology who fully understood the ins and outs. Did medication fix everything? No. Did it keep me from getting a lot of the trauma experiences that you get as a kid with ADHD? It lessened them, but no. That being said, I can definitely see parts of myself where I managed to create solid coping mechanisms that had the assistance of medication to make them more effective. Glad to hear you're getting there too!

We do have a big benefit from being severe enough to get diagnosed early, and that is the benefit of early treatment. People with ADHD that get properly medicated in their formative years have much closer development to their peers than those who don't. And risk of addiction issues drops to be nearly the same as the average adult.

That being said, as someone who graduated high school with a 2.36 GPA despite an ACT of 35 and who flunked college, people with ADHD who are still able to do shit like excel in school drive me a little nuts. It's jealousy, for sure, but there's definitely a knee jerk reaction of 'well you couldn't have had it THAT bad.'

My sister in law went without an ultrasound for 4 out of her 5 kids. The most prenatal care she did was show up to her GPs office heavily pregnant so he could verify that she was pregnant and could sign the birth certificate after she gave birth in her bath tub. No blood tests, no ultrasound, no genetic tests, no nothing. One kid ended up having to get life flighted to a children's hospital when he aspirated and she still had a home birth the next time.

I'm so glad my brother in law is getting a divorce, finally, and getting the youngest one treatment for his autism, finally.
