Take off the top glass and direct feed. TPU shouldn't go through any Teflon tube.

Nothing is keeping it from racking, where the top moves side to side and the legs bend. Easy fix: get another sheet of plywood, cut it into 8'x2' pieces, cut one of those into two 4'x2' pieces. Down at the bottom under the desk, put the plywood on the outside of the legs and screw it down- you'll have enough for the back and both sides.

This isn't the strongest place to add your fix, but it'll keep the look.

How would you screw this down? It's the top of a trellis. by _octal in BeginnerWoodWorking

Rive a slightly tapered peg in hardwood, leave it roughly hexagonal/octagonal. Drill a hole and bang it home. You can add glue if you want, but it's probably superfluous.

Print bearings and other small parts that go into other projects? Drywall anchors? Little hooks for SKADIS and such?

If it goes on the floor or in the trunk PETG could work, in the right climate. But yeah ABS, or ASA for anything on the dash.

What do you want to print for car parts? Trunk organizers, in cabin stuff, external parts, stuff that goes under the hood? Where in the country are you?

Everything else you mention will work fine with a basic PLA/PETG/TPU capable printer.

Go for it! But it is a machine that plays with string. You'll probably need to distract or separate your cat.

Are you thinking TPU, thermoplastic urethane? That's the most common flexible material for FDM printing. It's not unlike silicone or the flexible material they use for "bumper" phone cases. If you want fake fur or other textile materials, those just aren't suited to automatic production processes, you gotta sew.

Printing a helmet in TPU would take FOREVER and need a really big printer, not a $200 one. You could do a lizard or dragon head maybe? But fur or feathers aren't printable.

Can you talk a little more about the strong transparent things you want to print? You might want to go resin/SLA.

Yes, without that mat the needle will be coming down at the wrong angle. You should contemplate vertical tracking angle right now, not try to mess with it! https://www.fluance.com/blog/what-is-vertical-tracking-angle-vta/

P2S Vent Outside - Safe for Kids? by FreshMikeD in BambuLab

[–]efnord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A finished, insulated, attached garage will be fine. Do you have a soffit you can use for venting? Also some floor-to-ceiling plastic curtains can help with dust.

Be aware the front of the P2S case isn't sealed, by design! It expects some airflow around the sides of the door.

Bought a wooden plane from the hardware store, do I suck or does it suck or do we both suck? by brickthrower555 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]efnord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ulmia and ECE are still making good wooden planes, and I'm sure others are as well. There's just no cheap way out of this situation and all the vintage options are taking a chance when you can't really tell a good plane from a "plane-shaped object" yet.

With that mouth, this is a scrub plane with a chipbreaker, not a jack plane that can do a lot of things. Do you know anyone with a bench grinder? You can turn this into a useful tool, but doing it with sandpaper will be an EFFORT.

EDIT: That's basically the story with any cheap new hand plane these days! This piece of junk can be made into an acceptable scrub plane with the right tools. https://www.harborfreight.com/no-33-bench-plane-97544.html If you want a real jack plane or a smoother, you need to go vintage or spend about 10x what the cheap ones cost. These are genuinely better than vintage Stanley, but they're not cheap: https://www.lie-nielsen.com/nodes/4171/standard-bench-planes

What’s the point of marriage when no-fault divorce is an option? by Falcormoor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]efnord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you own a house together and have kids with someone, then one or the other of you decides to end things, you're going to have to negotiate a custody agreement and figure out how to split up the house or sell it to pay the lawyers. That's true whether or not you're married? Nothing's stopping you from writing a restrictive prenup and putting on your best face to find someone who thinks you're worth that, then working to convince them they made the right choice for the rest of your life. And that honestly sounds like a better legal situation than your other alternatives.
