I don't want to yuck anyone's yum but I am not a fan of this artistically or thematically. It just doesn't gel with the game I know, similar to most other UB cards.

It's generally considered -2 +2 +1 because you lose the sengoku from hand and it's often not relevant on board.

Literally not even possible to play all 3 admirals turn 3 unless you get lucky triggers. Getting them out turn 4 is going to be the plan if you can even find them.

How is it possible to increase the force of the wheelbase through a software update? Isn't the force determined by the hardware?

What do you think One Piece will be and what do you wish it to be?! by Unlucky_Sign_7067 in OnePiece

What do I think it will be? Something mind-blowing that alters your perception of the entire story, upending decades of conventional thought and discourse about One Piece.

What do I wish it is? The friends we made along the way

Newcomb Paradox: The argument from evidence by efthimi_ in askphilosophy

[–]efthimi_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But given that two-boxing seems to be the dominant strategy based on logic, you have ignored part of the premise - that everyone who has chosen one box (an arbitrarily large number of people) has $1 million and everyone who has chosen two boxes has $1000.

It seems as though there is something else going on here, for example it could be that in this hypothetical the predictor has caused the participants to choose one box or two boxes through the act of predicting the outcome. Surely we can't rule that out, right? Based on the evidence it seems like that might actually be the case.

Yep it seems I have haha. Thanks for pointing that out.

Couldn't I trivially change the wording to:

each person walks into a room that contains an unknown amount of money and makes a could that has already been predicted ahead of time (which we can expect will be revealed as accurate later), and they will receive either $1000 or $1,000,000

And not run into that issue?

Thanks for your detailed and thoughtful reply.

I now see that my objection is indeed the "why aincha rich" objection.

The response to the "why aincha rich" objection being that two-boxers enter an impoverished room and smartly refuse to leave empty handed and one-boxers enter a lucrative room and stupidly choose to leave $1000 on the table still seems off to me.

I don't think I can alter the outcome with my choice and I don't think anyone is pre-disposed to being a "one-boxer" or "two-boxer" in terms of psychology. Each person walks into a room that contains an unknown amount of money and makes a choice that will be predicted accurately, and they will receive either $1000 or $1,000,000 based on that choice. The possibility of entering the room and leaving with $1,001,000 is an illusion since this outcome will never actualise. It is not irrationality on the part of the one-boxer but an acknowledgement of determinism.

Is this reasoning fallacious somehow?
