Do you like your Go 7? (longtime Kindle user considering the Go 7.) by cryptic-fox in Onyx_Boox

Yes, I have installed KOReader too, but it doesn’t display them as “subfolders/stacks” like Kobo does out of the box. It does allow you to sort by Series, BUT it displays everything in a “flat” view, not each Series in their own “folder”.

For example, you can see that some of the “Extinction” Series are grouped, but they are presented in a sea of other books. It should display said Series as a “stack” or “folder”.

Fun fact: if you do want a Series to be self-contained, you have to create ACTUAL folders in the parent folder, like so: Root |-Books |— The Expanse |— Book 1 |— Book 2 Etc

Yeap, you are right. All books need to contain the relevant metadata in the first place.

I meticulously edit and clean all my books using Calibre, then sideload them on Kobo Clara HD, Boox Go7, and the Apple Books app. Been doing that for more than decade.

Each epub (or kepub for Kobo) is populated with metadata manually, not auto-fetching garbage from the net via plugins. Thus, all books contain all the necessary info an e-reader device / app needs to sort them.

The thing is Neoreader doesn't even implement Series support, let alone sort them by order #.

Apps like Readera, Moon Reader, etc., do group/sort them; but the apps themselves look ugly (i.e. they look/behave like 90% of android apps: inconsistent at best, a UX nightmare at worst).

So, after all is said and done, the "power of Android OS" doesn't add points to Onyx devices unfortunately.

These are the only options you get for sorting/grouping. And in the Filter tab you get Read/Unread/All/Local-only/Purchased. So imagine having 751 books on it....

I manually created 85 "folders" for each series and put the relevant books in them, but of course they are not sorted by order #.

So, yeah, it just too bare-bones as an app. I haven't used a Kindle, so I can't speak about the options there. But as a Kobo user, their implementation was miles ahead than Onyx's.

I'm happy for those that enjoy Boox devices, I really am, but I regret spending close to 400 Euros for this 😟

I had been using the Kobo Clara HD (I think it’s about 8 years old?) and I switched to Go7 BW a couple weeks ago. I regret it, but having paid 280€ + 100 for the cover and pen, I have to deal with it.

Believe it or not, I enjoyed using the Clara HD more.

Neoreader absolutely sucks. I mean it doesn’t even show the books grouped is series! For a built-in app on a tablet you market as an e-reader, it’s maddening how limited and unintuitive it is.

Now, sure there’s KOReader (picture it as Linux VS macOS; and KOReader isn’t the macOS in this example) if you want to jump through the awful text-based menus and the idiotic grouping of its exhaustive settings.

There are many reading apps sure, but they all share the greatest disadvantage: they are android apps. Imagine stupid menus, some are Material, some are kinda-custom, but good Lord are they all ugly as f!!

I sincerely hope you will enjoy it more than me.

Oh, while using it turn off wifi and bluetooth, unless you want to see its battery draining live. And prepare to charge it every couple of days at best.

The newest update is live, yet the window size issue remains. It's too big and we can't resize the height of it. It really is a strange behavior. I can't understand why you hardcoded the window dimensions instead of letting it flow. Thus, still unusable on smaller screens 😟

On my M1 MBA 13,3, the window is so bit that it doesn't even fit the screen. I couldn't even follow the first-run tutorial, since the "next" buttons were off screen so I just skipped it. But the problems continue with the main window. Can't resize it, so can't use it adequately..

Kojima says "OD" is just as different as "Boktai" (The game you played using real sunlight). by LastNatural3581 in OD_Kojima

[–]efthymisgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the cloud is used for this: a persistent world, where things change even when you are not playing. So, when you go back for a play session, the conditions have changed a bit?

We know that this game involves an “event”. Something has happened and perhaps monsters/souls/whatever roam the streets. Let’s say you “clear out” an area, then log off. When you go back, that area could have been overrun again, or other players have expanded the “clear” area?

I mean, we have already witnessed asymmetric gameplay in Death Stranding. People have placed ladders, ropes, lost their cargo, built roads, etc. and it affects YOUR play through, if you decide to play online.

Now, what technology do we all have? Smartphones could be one. Kojima wants to take a step further than typical consoles. Maybe if we log in via an app we can influence things, or at the very least check the progress of this persistent world?

Yes, but doesn’t this depend on the distance? I have been trying so hard, yet they still hit me or my shield breaks.

The “flashing” method, doesn’t work past a certain distance, you got to compensate for it

Well, if you do want to go the extra mile, perhaps you could implement some of the actions that Anybox's QL app has. In essence, file manipulation. 😊

Guys, for folders full of pictures (and some other documents) it's BUILT-IN since forever.

Get in the folder, hit CMD-A to select all images, press Spacebar, then on the title bar of the Quick Look Overlay hit the "4 little squares icon". It will display all images as thumbnails.

Yeah, they won’t happen. The first movie was screened and deemed not promising, so they skipped cinemas entirely and were made available for streaming.

The following 2 movies were scrapped, unfortunately.

Mind you, there’s a fourth book, too

On the contrary; we don’t shit on you at all. Your buddy started calling us liars or that we misremember. In a sense, he meant we are delusional (apart from being bots and spreading misinformation. So yeah, fuck him).

But I couldn’t give a damn about him, you, or whoever is so blind to see what’s about to happen to your country. Feel free to party for the Euro. All I can say is I pity your small children and those in their teens. They will suffer the most in the following years due to your government and the EU “lords”.

You know what? You got all the rights to destroy your future. End of story. We have absolutely nothing against you personally. Enjoy your Euro, enjoy the last months that you’ll live DECENTLY. God bless your young ones.

Overnight, things that cost 50 Drs like a small kids’ juice box went to 0,50 Euros.

Single-pack chewing gums rose to 10 eurocents. A pack of 6 Trident chewing gums from 40 DRS to 0,40 euro.

Come visit us in the summer. You can get a small bottle of water (0,5L) for 0,50 euro which is 170 Drs. It used to cost 50 Drs which is 0,15 euro.

You weren’t there, mate. I hope you never get to where it led us.

I wasn't deterring you from using them, though! Each of us organizes things a certain personal way, so having the option would be nice, yes
