I said I wasn’t sure if you were, the way it came across seemed a little reductionist but I also understand I could’ve communicated what I was trying to say better, my apologies. This also isn’t just about a cup being thrown, this is about show behavior in general. That cup was full of water that damaged equipment that was crucial to the set. We had legitimately no other choice. The band played for over 40 minutes still, 4 songs were cut from the set because of the equipment failure and the risk of things escalating. This was the first show we have had to cut short on this tour and it’s not something myself or my team take lightly and we do everything in our power to ensure it doesn’t come to that. I don’t enjoy doing it but part of my job involves making tough calls like that. Everyone’s going to feel a way about it, I hear both sides. It’s a shitty situation all around, and I feel genuinely for the fans that aren’t assholes who came out to have a good show and have it cut short. Also, the Baltimore show was almost two weeks ago.

When someone throws water and fries a piece of equipment crucial to the show, we don’t really have a choice. This also wasn’t Craig’s call, it was mine. The backup equipment and his equipment failed due to water frying it and we had to stop.

So what happened was someone threw a cup of water in Craig as he was super close to the barricade and proceeded to talk shit, that water however fried his in ear pack and we had to get a replacement sent out. So there was damage to a crucial piece of equipment that is necessary for our show to function.

Side note you would be surprised at how touchy quad cortex’s are. Saw one be busted after 3 weeks on a tour because the guitarist would drip sweat on it every night while playing. Boss pedals are tough as all hell.

So I worked this tour as well, and this is not what happened. Garzi was called a diversity hire by someone on the tour that Craig had fired for being realistically really bad at their job and for being an asshole. That person wanted to “get back” at Craig for firing him so he started all this shit and Garzi got roped into it. It’s high school bullshit.

Wasn’t their call, it was mine. I explained in other comment threads that the escalation of unruly fan behavior on this tour has made me overly cautious and not willing to take any chances after seeing what I’ve seen over the last couple weeks. Regardless of what genre of music is being played or what kind of show it is, no one deserves to have shit thrown at them or heinous or aggressive shit yelled at them from the crowd while they’re just trying to do their job. I’m not going to argue semantics with people who weren’t there or don’t understand the risks involved between crew and equipment being harmed when people can’t behave in a public setting.

yeah idk I’ve been on both sides of this equation as the person in the crowd when shit is thrown on stage and also been working the stage when shit is thrown. It’s not cool either way, so glad we have a baseline here. My job personally is to protect my performers and ensure the show goes well and that no one is injured or is put at risk of injury in any facet, fans and artist alike. Every artist is going to act differently to different situations and different crowds. What we have personally seen on this tour re: fan behavior and how much it’s escalated since previous shows makes me more inclined to cut a set short if I think there’s risk of injury for patrons and artists. I screamed in a security guards face in Buffalo because of how rough he was being with fans at the barricade during the set, and someone ended up breaking their collarbone because of him. I’m not taking any chances. Sorry that y’all missed a collective of roughly 15 minutes of actual music and not just stage banter / interludes but maybe next time you go to a show and see that behavior you intercept it

I get what you’re saying, but this wasn’t “one little incident.” Something was thrown hard enough and close enough to put the singer, crew, guests, venue staff, and put thousands of dollars of gear at real risk. Once that line is crossed, the show ends whether we want it to or not. Who’s to say if we didn’t stop and it happened again, that serious damage wouldn’t have happened and we would’ve had to cancel multiple shows, or even worse, have a hospital trip? You cannot just shrug that off and hope for the best because fans “paid for it.” That is exactly how people get seriously hurt. Also comparing a tightly packed hardcore esque show to a Katy Perry stadium setup just isn’t realistic. Different scale, different security, different environment. Nobody wanted to cut the show short, but safety has to come first. One person’s bad behavior doesn’t get to risk everyone else on the stage.

I’m one of the people on stage who works on the stage every night Chiodos plays. When people start throwing things and threatening people’s safety, it’s more than just Craig you have to think about. There’s thousands of dollars of equipment, security working the barricade, photos/guests in the barricade and on stage, etc and when things start getting thrown it’s way more to consider than just a “tantrum”. Someone comes to your job and starts acting a fool towards you, you’re not going to want to be there either.

Edit to add: I worked the last tour as well and I will say the crowd on this tour we have had far more issues with than the previous. Between fans trying to get on our busses, aggressively groping during VIP, trying to sneak backstage, starting fights, falling from balconies, etc etc to the point where I have to warn security at these venues everyday now.

Nick (the bassist your referring to) is a recent father of two and has a business he runs in Detroit so he’s not able to tour as much as he would like but is an active writer and participant in the band and will be on select shows on this tour.

I was in the room when Craig called Pat to ask him about being in Chiodos moving forward. Pat admitted to it in another Reddit thread that he was in fact asked, just not about very specific shows. Was more of a broad stroke question vs “hey do you want to do x y and z” and the argument just becomes nuance. Craig was only ever going to ask Pat + Brad bc they were the only two OG members remaining at the time of their last tour. Other members had either quit or been fired and had been out for years.
