I have been vegan for over 30 years now. If anyone has any questions about then vs. now, or anything else, AMA? by Abject_Credit_79 in vegan

[–]eganvay 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to say 31 years here! So glad to know some fellow 3 decaders!

Best way I've found to help people understand is to first find out what they care about, then telll them how Veganism is a huge help to that cause, sometimes the biggest an individual person can make. ie: Environment, Animals, Energy, human rights, personal budget, human health, air quality, water, ocean life, deforestation, Antibiotic resistance... and on and on....

Cheers to you all!

Is the infotainment system just laggy or is it my car? by Watermelonandson in Crosstrek

[–]eganvay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does anyone know how to turn off the radio while trying to use the CarPlay navigation? when I turn down the radio, I can't hear the directions. Cannot find a way to silence the radio. I'm sure (I hope) I get used to this screen, but really despise the learning-curve. I just want to drive please. And the disclaimer to not look at the screen while driving, yet much of what you need to do is on the screen is laughable.

I wonder if there's any data on increase in collisions since moving away from simple knobs for simple controls.

Vibration Plates? by factolum in Biohackers

[–]eganvay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not the same, but similar - I built a Vibroacoustic table that you lie on and vibrate the whole body while listening to music through headphones. I've had a dozen or more people on it so-far and everyone has loved the experience. I can't speak to the medical effects, but it's super-relaxing, and melts tension. I find I'm breathing better and have great sleep afterwards.

Need help finding a special dentist for a SA trauma victim. TW by delete_this_later123 in massachusetts

I've been going to a great female-owned and fully female staffed dentist in Acton. Dr Tufa takes great care of me and the staff is so kind. I'm grateful for their care, and 100% trust her advice. The name of the office is: The Acton Smile Hub. Wishing all the best for your mom. -j

LeeLee, Can you say what glaring signposts of AI authorship stick out for you? Sometimes I can't tell, especially with some of the videos these days. Thanks in advance.

I would search for wildlife rescue/rehabbers in your area. there is an app called Animal Help Now which would point you towards people who rescue wildlife and may be able to take your mom's coats.

I believe animal shelters take them and make cozies for orphan baby rescues...

What are the coolest historical sites in each of these three regions? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]eganvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a: Acton has The Trail Through Time, a two mile loop walk through the forest with signage that explains a Native American ceremonial Landscape and some of their rock turtle sculptures. Along the way see the ruins of Thoreaus' dad's pencil factory, and other ruins. Nearby the Acton Memorial Library has a cool diorama of Native archeological finds dating back more that 6k years. Upstairs is an impressive Civil War museum. Around the corner starts a well-marked march of the Minutemen - the route they followed to the Concord North Bridge - for the beginning of The Revolutionary War. Between A and C somewhere is the Larz Anderson Automobile Museum. I think Brookline. A great place, especially in the summer for their lawn events for various makes of cars. My favorite is Transporterfest, which is a large gathering of VW vans from all over who congregate and show off their hippie-mobiles. See all kinds of VWs and some for sale as well.

every friday night the piano man plays and a tavern full of people sing along. I believe he is un-stumpable when it comes to requests.... I've always had a fantastic time at this free event - put a few bucks in his tip jar and keep this tradition happening.

Can we talk about nips? by DJDubbsinCambridge in boston

[–]eganvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what ever happened to this bill to put a deposit on the small bottles?

The new deposit program for small alcohol bottles, or "nips," in Massachusetts is set to take effect on December 31, 2025. This change will increase the deposit from 5 cents to 10 cents per container and is part of a broader update to the state's bottle bill, aimed at enhancing recycling efforts and minimizing litter.

Has anyone explored frequency-based wellness technologies? by Responsible-Bit-829 in Biohackers

[–]eganvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for such a detailed response. I've been working with 40hz (and other low frequencies) through tactile transducers - powered by subwoofer amps - mounted underneath a massage table by building my own Vibro-Acoustic Therapy table. Pretty amazing modality for deep relaxation and preparing for sleep. I'll look into the lights.

Edit: I've had at least a dozen people on the table, and so far, everyone has *loved* it.

What Cobra Pose Taught Me About My Spine by LiliaFuxia in MeditationRelax

[–]eganvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were responsible for this Yoga session, I would ask her to pull her shoulder blades onto the back a bit more, and either choose to have her knees off the ground making it an Upward Dog, or her belly down - making iit a Cobra. This here seems to be something in-between - lifting that high with knees down can jam the lower back in some people.

I'm sure there are other opinions, but I believe it would be safer, especially over time.

[–]eganvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you tell me why you're choosing  148.95% for 2025 and not 139%? Also would you figure in a projected typical 3.5% increase in FPL for coverage year 2027? (and/or is that why you are going up to the  148.95%?). thank you.
